Kil-Kare
Dragway 8/28/2004
Well we opened up early for the 9th running of the Pontiac
Trans-Am Nationals under clear skies. They had about 70 cars for the three
brackets that they run, plus some cars that were there just for show. This
year they were giving away a 550 horse power complete motor in a random
drawing of all the tech cards, and if you were racing and won and was entered
in their car show at the Dayton airport you would win a four foot trophy.
The P1 class is for all F-bodies and had the biggest turn out of cars.
After five rounds of racing the final came down to racers from far apart Barry
Simpson of Thornton Ontario, Canada in his 78 Trans Am and local racer Terry
Knight of Huber Heights, Ohio in his 97 Firebird. Terry a regular here at
Kil-Kare got the better light with a .541 to .597 and toke the win with a
15.919 at 84.57 on a 15.89 dial in. Barry ran a 12.681 at 106.90 on a 12.60
dial in.

Indiana in his 74 GTO and local racer Mary Beth Hess from Xenia, Ohio in her
66 GTO. As the local fans was hoping for another win Mary Beth when red giving
the win to Jack. Jack ran a 12.776 at 98.03 on a 12.66 dial in for the win.
Mary Beth ran a 10.723 at 121.58 on a 10.64 dial in.

another Ohio racer in a 76 Firebird. William Tharpe of Xenia, Ohio and the
Kil-Kare announcer in his Toyota and Mike Barron of Seven Hills, Ohio in his
Firebird. Tharpe who has won two times over the years at this race but in his
Trans Am. Mike red lighted giving the win to William who ran an 18.101 at
76.68 on an 18.10 dial. Mike ran a 10.549 at 127.51 on a 10.50 dial in.
Then before we could start the finals of our last
point’s race for Indy the rains came and came very hard and we had to
cancel. That race will be run next Saturday with Super Saturday race. Text
