Xenia, Oh. (7/23) - Former Kil-Kare Speedway late model champion Joe Hill of Germantown felt right at home Friday night at Kil-Kare Speedway. The Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) Supertrucks made their annual visit to the oval and Hill was the star of the show.

Driving the D'Burg Auto Body sponsored Ford F-150 he was tops in qualifying with a time of 14.56 (93.10 mph), captured his heat event and then put the icing on the cake by winning the 40 lap feature on Greene County Parks and Recreation night.

Polesetter Sam Breedlove put his Dodge Ram out front at the start of the feature but he only enjoyed the lead for two laps. Fifth place starter Hill wasted little time in moving the Keith Boothe prprepared Ford into the front to show as the leader on lap three and stayed there as he ran away from the field to claim Don Beddies checker and first place money. Steve Blair of Brownsburg, Indiana, also in a Ford F-150 was second with third going to points leader Joe Axsom of Indianapolis, Indiana, also in a Ford F-150. Fourth went to Kerry Roseman of Avon, Indiana and fifth was Derek Price winner of the other heat of Perrysville, Indiana.

In the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Late Models it was Tony Brunke of Casstown bringing the Tom Smith Industries sponsored Monte Carlo home a winner for the fourth time this year. Ricky Bates led the first eight laps as Brunke was on the move on the outside to overpower Bates on the next lap. Bates was second with previous weeks winner Jerry Stapleton third followed by Mike Miller and Sam Heckman who was fast timer at 14.32 (94.40 mph).

The E-Mod feature ended in a near photo finish between Jerry Stapleton and Jason Mahaffey. Stapleton took the lead from the start in his Dick's Crank & Cam sponsored car with Mike Carroll giving him fits all the way as Carroll tried to no avail to pass Stapleton. As the laps rolled away here came 8th place starter Jason Mahaffey passing cars on the outside as he closed in on the leaders. With checker in the air Mahaffey made a last minute charge on Stapleton and fell short by only a few inches of claiming his first win of the year. For Troy resident Stapleton, the defending points champion it was his first win of the season in the modifieds. With second going to Mahaffey, Carroll, Charlie Davis, and Derek Barnette rounded out the top five. Dick Dunlevy Jr. was fast qualifier for the fourth straight week with a time of 14.17 (95.74 mph).

Nineteen Pure Stocks lined up for their feature with Bill Burba and Jamie Sites bringing the pack to the green flag. Two time feature winner Burba took the lead with Sites in second for the first lap but lap two shoed Heath White in second and in pursuit of Burba.

Burba continued to lead until a caution flag appeared on lap 13 and White was able to move into the front spot as Burba faded back with an overheating rear-end. Points leader Tom Williams in his Monte Carlo was second to White's Camaro. Third was Mike South Jr. who started 8th with Burba fourth and fifth was Jimmie Johnson.
Fast time was posted by defending champion Jeff Marsh at 15.21 (88.81 mph).

The Tom Gill KOIL Legends Cars had 18 cars start their feature that produced a new name in the winners circle. Dillon Oliver made the long haul from Bowling Green, Kentucky worthwhile as he not only won his heat but claimed his first feature win.

Al Renner of Indianapolis, Indiana claimed runner-up honors for the second time this year with third going to Toby Alfrey of Miamisburg. Fourth was Terry Childers with fifth to the other heat winner Rick Jones.

The Compact feature again turned into a Haerr/Williams show down as the duo claimed the first two spots. Allen Campbell had the pleasure of leading the first six laps until Tim Haerr nosed inside of him for the lead with Gary Williams right behind him and that is the way they crossed the finish line. Bret Boykin was third with Hamilton fourth and Joe Hoelscher fifth.

Next Friday night, July 30, the ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series visit Kil-Kare with a 100 lap feature topping the program. Late Models, E-Mods, Pure Stocks, and Compacts will see action with the gates opening at 5 p.m. and admission will be only $12 per adult and children 11 and under $3.
