Well the long awaited Buckeye Nationals under ideal weather, made for some
great racing action. With the booked in shows of the Pro Top Outlaws,
Supercharged Warriors, UDRA Funny Cars, and Midwest Doorslamers plus about 250
cars and bikes. We opened early in hopes that we good get it all done before
the midnight curfew. The racing was hot all day long with the track record
books being broken all day long. We didn’t get it all done before curfew and
will finish what we didn’t next week before our quick sixteen race. We did
have two first time winners this week.
We started off with qualifying for the pro top outlaws and that’s
where the first of the record breaking started. The track record for open
wheel cars coming in to the race was a 3.859 at 185.00 held by Adam Trauth.
With cars from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, South Carolina,
Florida and Ontario, Canada trying to get in the 16-car show. Adam Trauth set
the E.T. record in the first qualifying round at a 3.847 to be number one.
After the second and final qualifying run there were 7 cars in the three
second range and a bump spot of a 4.515. In the first round Terry Coyle of
Stamping Ground, Kentucky ran a 3.928 Jason Hamstra of Demotte, Indiana ran a
3.869 and then Adam Trauth of Cold Springs, Kentucky broke the record again
and this time also the speed record with a 3.833 at 185.97. In round two Jason
Hamstra ran a 3.838 Tom Mueller of Sharonville, Ohio ran a 3.996 and Adam
Trauth reset both records again with a 3.820 at 186.88. In the semi finals
Jason Hamstra ran a 3.837 to beat Mike Kowalski of Lynn Haven, Florida who ran
a 4.168. Adam Trauth ran a 3.960 to get by Leonard Mattingly of Shepardsville,
Kentucky who ran a 4.848. In the final everybody was on there feet and hoping
to see the record books be broken again Trauth had the jump at the start with
a .415 to .425 reaction time but when up in smoke just pass the 60 foot mark
and Jason when on to win with another 3.838 at 185.24 and won another outlaw
race and added to his big points margin.

In the Supercharged Warriors Jerry Streb of Youngstown, Ohio in his 69
Camaro won the burnout contest in round one. The warriors qualify in round two
and to that run the closest to here 4.99 index come back for the final. In
that final it was David Covell of Ashtabula, Ohio in his 23T taking on Martin
Beno of Lagrange, Ohio in his 23 T. Covell had the better light but broke out
with a 4.976 giving the win to Beno who ran a 5.016 and got his second win in
a row on their tour.

The UDRA Funny Cars qualify and run the two closest in there final
also. In the final it was Mike McGee of Ft Wayne, Indiana in his 01 Corvette
taking on Kevin Lennon of Merryville, Indiana in his 99 Firebird. In the Final
they left together but McGee ran a 4.090 to get the win over Lennon who ran a
4.144.

The Midwest Doorslamers a newly formed group who is looking for more
booking run two rounds and then to cars comes back for the final. In that
final it was Dave Applegate of Cincinnati, Ohio in his 55 Chevy taking on Mark
Liddy of Kettering Ohio in his 76 Chevette. Applegate broke on the burnout
giving the win to Liddy who ran a single at 5.115.

Ok now getting to our regular brackets in Super Pro we had 125 cars
staged up for the first round with 23 five O bulbs and two perfect .500 lights
by Brent Angles and Tim Thatcher and sixteen dead on runs with two dead on
with a zero by Danny Kendall 6.090 and Gary Ferguson 6.230. Round two’s best
was to .501 lights by Chuck Burgess and Greg Kain and Dwight Fox with a 4.934
on a 4.93. In round three the best was .502 by Mike Brown and Lee Miller and
Andrew J Barrett running dead on with a zero 5.66. In round four Dean Mcilvain
with a .501 and David Calmes 5.881 on a 5.88. In the quarterfinals Andrew J
Barrett of Beavercreek, Ohio in his 94 Lebaron had a .504 to .509 light
advantage over Matt Antrobius of Bellbrook, Ohio in his 00 Fox but Matt got
the win. Lee Miller of Germantown, Ohio in his 98 Dragster red lighted giving
the win to David Calmes of Medway, Ohio in his 89 Beretta. Nathan Baker of
Xenia, Ohio in his 89 Mustang had a perfect .500 light to beat Jim Fourcade of
Dayton, Ohio in his 02 Dragster. Dwight Fox of Springfield, Ohio in his 98 Fox
red-lighted giving Dean Mcilvain of New Carlisle, Ohio in his 97 Spitzer who
ran a 4.844 on a 4.84. That set up the semi finals but the curfew hit and we
will finish it next week.
In the Pro bracket 68 cars staged up for round one action. There was no
dead on runs but there was three five O bulbs with Bill Cramer .505 the best.
In round two there was four dead on runs with Bill Haag 10.124 on a 10.12 was
the best and Shawn Stacy .502 was the best light. In round three James Sanders
11.354 on an 11.35 was the best. In round four David Berry had a .503 light
and Chris Parriman 10.700 was dead on. In the quarterfinals Shawn Stacy of
Beavercreek, Ohio in his 70 Camaro got the bye run. Steve collier of Xenia,
Ohio in his 68 Camaro got by James Sanders of Riverside, Ohio in his 85
Firebird. Matt Peters of Fairborn, Ohio in his 77 Vega won a double breakout
race over David Berry of Brookville, Ohio in his 78 Malibu. That set up the
semi finals but curfew got us and we will finish it next week.
In the Sportsman bracket 31 cars staged up for the first round. Joe
Zimmer had a .507 light and their was on dead on’s. In the quarterfinals Ken
Forsythe of Fairborn, Ohio in his 81 Mustang didn’t have his taillight on
was that gave the win to Jason H Farquer of Hillsboro, Ohio in his 79 Malibu.
Dennis Young of Riverside, Ohio in his 71 Camaro had the better light and beat
Mick Howard of Beavercreek, Ohio in his 94 Z-28. Richard Hammond of West
Milton, Ohio in his 87 Firebird used the better light to beat Joe Zimmer of
Dayton, Ohio in his 71 Camaro. Mike McGriff of Oregonia, his in his 91 Mustang
had the better light and got by Dale Adams of Beavercreek, Ohio in his 96
Mustang. In the semi finals Farquer won the double breakout race over McGriff.
Young broke out giving the win to Hammond. In the final both drivers was
looking for their first win of the season. Farquer had the better light but
broke out giving Hammond his first win of the season.

In Motorcycle we had 25 staged up in round one with Russ Withem having
the best light with a .504 and Brad Shellhaas ran a 9.214 on a 9.21. In round
two Withem again had the best light with a .504. In the quarterfinals Scott
Sheppeard of Tipp City, Ohio on his 01 Honda got the bye run. Danny Oiler Sr
of Springfield, Ohio on his Suzuki got a broke run when Darrel Johnson broke
in the water box. Brad Shellhaas of Springfield, Ohio on his 75 Kawasaki also
got one when Burt Exman of Englewood, Ohio on his 83 Suzuki broke a chain in
the water box. Dave Beavers of Urbana, Oho on his 76 Kawasaki had the better
light and got by Roger Wilhelm Jr of Urbana, Ohio on his 72 Kawasaki. In the
semi finals Sheppeard had the better light but Beavers got the win. Shellhaas
red lighted giving the win to Oiler Sr. That set up the final that will run
next week because of the curfew.
High School today we had a first time winner Bobby Hatton of Kettering,
Ohio in his 92 Chevy Pick up he ran a 16.878 at 79.50 on a 16.82 dial in.
