Well the weather men where
wrong again, the rain they call for didn’t come and after some down
time for a wreck that the driver was not hurt and some light rain super
Saturday was complete. This super Saturday can be renamed Caplinger
Saturday plus three first time winners.
In the first round of super
pro 87 cars staged up for a chance at the $1,500 dollar pay out. Todd
Cordell had a perfect .500 light and Dale Morris ran a 5.650 on a 5.65
dial in for the best of that round. In round two Jim Smith and JR
Lockhart had .501 lights, Todd Cordell, Jeff Toms and Matt Antrobius all
ran dead on with a zero. In round three Jim Fourcade had the best light
with a .501 and Delbert Estridge ran dead on with a four. In round four
Jim Smith had a 5.163 on a 5.16 dial in for the best. In the
quarterfinals Jim Smith of Beavercreek, Ohio in his Fox Dragster ran a
5.166 on a 5.16 dial in to beat a red lighting Dean Karns Jr in his 59
Corvette. Delbert Estridge of Fredericktown, Ohio in his 23T red lighted
giving the win to Dave Caplinger in his 78 Monza. Greg Kain of
Kettering, Ohio in his 98 Dragster used a .502 light to get by a red
lighting terry Terrell of New Carlisle, Ohio in his 89 Grand Prix. In
the semifinals Caplinger got the bye run to the final where his would be
going for his second super Saturday win of the season. Smith broke out
with a 5.151 on a 5.16 giving the win to Kain. In the final it was close
at the start .511 to .516 Caplinger with the better light and the win
with a 6.704 on a 6.68 dial in over Kain 5.096 on a 5.06. It was
Caplinger second win of the season and both were super Saturdays.

In the pro bracket 64 cars
staged up in round one with Ed Robbins having the best light of the
round with a .504 and Bob Manker running a 12.103 on a 12.10 dial in. In
the round two Mike Gill ran a 10.401 on a 10.40 dial in. In round three
Vince Moore ran an 11.920 on an 11.92 dial in. In the quarterfinals Doug
Caplinger of Xenia, Ohio in his 72 Chevelle used a .512 light to get by
Donnie Hines of Dayton, Ohio in his 70 Torino. Tom Peters of Fairborn,
Ohio in his 77 Vega red lighted giving the win to Dave Cox of Washington
Court House, Ohio in his 72 Nova. Keith Stewart of Urbana, Ohio in his
72 Camaro broke and Rod Knight of Xenia, Ohio in his 71 Chevelle the
broke run. Mike Gill of Washington Court House, Ohio in his 79 Camaro
had the better light and got the win over Ed Robbins of Springfield,
Ohio in his 68 Firebird. In the semifinals Caplinger had the better
light and got the win light over Cox. Knight won the double breakout
race over Gill. In the final Caplinger used the better light to get his
second win of the season go to the winner circle with his brother. It
was Knight first final of the year.
In the sportsman class 29
cars staged up for the first round with Doug Caplinger having the best
light with a .501 and Nathan Baker running a 16.063 on a 16.06 dial in.
In round two the best light was Ed Shotts with a .509 and Joe Zimmer and
Phil Spradlin both running dead on with a zero. In the quarterfinals Joe
Zimmer of Dayton, Ohio in his 71 Camaro ran dead on 14.030 on a 14.03
dial in to beat Mike McGriff of Oregonia, Ohio in his 91 Mustang. Jason
H Farquer of Hillsboro, Ohio in his Firebird had the better light and
got by Mick Howard of Beavercreek, Ohio in his 94 Z-28. Ricky Shepherd
of Dayton, Ohio in his 74 Nova used a .514 light to get by Nathan Baker
of Xenia, Ohio. Doug Caplinger of Xenia, Ohio in his 79 Malibu used the
better light to get by Bodo Carroll of Franklin, Ohio in his 00 Chevy.
In the semifinals Zimmer used a 14.011 on a 14.01 with a .508 light to
beat a breaking out Shepherd. Caplinger used a .516 light to beat
Farquer. In the final Caplinger was looking for his third win this
season and Zimmer his first. Caplinger had the better light and got his
third win and his second win tonight.
In the motorcycle bracket
First round 20 bikes staged up Roger Wilhelm Jr had the best light with
a .504 and Scott Sheppeard ran a 9.843 on a 9.84 dial in. In round Two
Mike McGrath had the best light with a .509. In the quarterfinals David
Sawyer of Springfield, Ohio on his 86 Suzuki got the bye run. Paul
Herald Jr of Springfield, Ohio on his Kawasaki used a .506 light to get
by Russell Stewart of North Hampton, Ohio on his 87 Kawasaki. Mike
McGrath of Dayton, Ohio on his 03 Honda red lighted giving the win to
Brad Shellhaas of Springfield, Ohio on his 75 Kawasaki. In the
semifinals Herald Jr got the bye run. Shellhaas had the better light and
got the win over Sawyer. In the final Shellhaas had a .509 light and ran
a 9.211 on a 9.21 dial in for his first win of the season over Herald
Jr. Brad

In junior dragster 36 cars
staged up for the first round Tyler Vance had the best light of the
round with a .510 and Erik Smith ran an 8.983 on an 8.98 dial in. In
round two Michael Bloomfield had the best light of the event with a .502
and Michael Collier ran an 8.941 on an 8.94 dial in. In the
quarterfinals Kyle Short of Trenton, Ohio in his 00 Spitzer got the bye
run. Matt Spradlin of Springfield, Ohio in his 00 Spitzer had the better
light and got the win over Michael Collier of Centerville, Ohio. Payton
Filson of Fairborn, Ohio in his 01 Half broke out giving the win to
Tyler Vance of New Carlisle, Ohio in his 97 Bos. In the semifinals Vance
got the bye run. Spradlin red lighted giving the win to Short. In the
final Vance won the double breakout race for his first win of the season
over Short.

In the high school class we
had the biggest turn out of the season in the semifinals Nick Brrett of
Beavercreek, Ohio in his Caddy won the double breakout race over Michael
Collier of Dayton, Ohio in his 90 Buick. Joe Hoskins of Fairborn, Ohio
had the better light and beat Brad Reed of Wilmington, Ohio. In the
final Hoskins red lighted giving Brrett his first win of the season.
