Sites $500 Winner at Kil-Kare Speedway
by
Jerry Wahl
Xenia, Ohio (7/1) - Jamie Sites of Vandalia
kicked off the Fourth of July week-end by
capturing the Pure Stock "Firecracker 25" at
Kil-Kare Speedway Friday night.
The current points leader started on the pole in
his Advanced Roofing/Earl Isaacs Photos
sponsored Camaro with Mike Miller alongside in
the car normally driven by Bill Burba.
Sites took the lead only to see the caution come
out for debris on the track calling for a
complete restart. Once again the green flag was
displayed and again Sites jumped out front and
again the caution lights came on as Tony
Cottrill and previous weeks winner Bret Clark
tangled. As if two restarts was not enough to
rattle Sites concentration a third caution
appeared before the first lap was completed.
This time Mike Miller spun on turn three and
again the field re-aligned.
Action finally got underway with Sites building
up a good lead while former track champion Jeff
Marsh and second generation driver Shawn
Stansell were battling for second when again the
field was slowed by a spinning car on lap ten.
The final caution appeared one lap later when
David Coffman spun on turn four.
From then on it was all Sites as he maintained a
good lead on the field. Meanwhile back behind
him Stansell did manage to get around Marsh and
was slowly gaining on Sites as the laps ran
down.
For Sites it was his best payday of his young
career as he pocketed $500 for his win. For
Stansell who placed second it was a $400 payday.
Ed Lorents slipped around Marsh to claim the
$350 third place money while Marsh earned $275
for fourth. Taking fifth and $225 was Mike South
Jr.
Coming up Friday, July 8, will be the
rescheduled "Dayton 100" for the Late Models
plus the Pure Stocks and Compacts will be in
action with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and
racing at 8 p.m.
