XENIA - Bracket racing at Kil-Kare Dragway on Saturday was brought to a halt at the midnight curfew, with only the high school class getting all of their rounds in and Mikey Collier of Dayton scoring another win. Plans to finish the day’s action include opening an hour early on this coming Saturday; once time runs are finished the remaining unfinished rounds will be completed. The Roberts Cadillac and Beyer Trailer Sales Quick 8 competition did get finished, showing off some of the fastest cars around the region. The top eight qualifiers in the door car class were as follows: Greg Burba of Beavercreek, 157 mph; Mike Rowe of Beaver, 156 mph; Jim Pauckner of Blanchester, 152 mph; Ed Beyer of Beavercreek, 155 mph; Badeye Brinegar of Middletown, 151 mph; Robert Jones of Jamestown, 150 mph; Jarod Wenrick of Tipp City, 152 mph; Craig Flora of Lynchburg, 147 mph. In round one eliminations, Pauckner moved on after winning against Wenrick, running a 4.67 on a 4.59 dial in. Flora ran a 4.77 on a 4.76 to move on over Beyer and Jones ran a 4.70 on his 4.66 dial in for the win over Rowe. Burba ran 4.67 on a 4.53 for the win over Brinegar. In the semi final, Burba ran a 4.63 on his dial in eliminating Pauckner, who ran a 5.00 on his 4.59 dial in. Flora had the best light over Jones, running a 4.77 on his 4.76. Jomes ran 6.12 on a 4.65 dial in. In the final, it was Flora for the win in his ’03 Cavalier, running 4.76 on the 4.74 at 147 mph. Burba in his ’63 Corvette redlighted. For Quick 8 open class competition, the top 8 were Adam Trautt of Alexander, Ky., 184 mph; Tim Mueller of Sharonville, 177 mph; Tom Swigart of Xenia, 173 mph; Randy Helton of Carlisle, 161 mph; Mat Haywood of Beavercreek, 165 mph; Robbie Davis of Bloomingville, 159 mph; Louis Reese Jr. of Maysville, Ky., 153 mph and Mike Bloomfield of Hamilton, 156 mph. First round eliminations saw Haywood move on over Trautt and Bloomfield run 4.49 of a 4.45 dial in to beat Helton. Swigart redlighted, handing the win to Reese, Mueller also got a redlight, which moved Davis to the semi final. Davis ran a 4.37 on his 4.36 dial in. In the semi final, Reese got the double break out win over Haywood; Davis broke out with Bloomfield hitting a .509 reaction. In the final it was Bloomfield’s race, he ran a 4.50 on his 4.46 dial in at 156 mph. Reese ran 4.45 on his 4.40 dial in, 153 mph. This Saturday after brackets are finished from last weekend, an entirely new day of NHRA drags will begin. Check back for both sets of results.
