XENIA – Warm weather with lots of sunshine greeted Super Saturday participants at Kil-Kare Dragway this weekend, adding another day to the books and some shuffling of the points standings.

The super pro quarterfinals came at round five, with eight drivers competing for the top spots from the 119 that staged up for round one. Bill Burlie of Dayton picked up a win and a sport in the semis after Allen Miller of Christiansburg redlighted. Rich Evan of Xenia broke out in his ’65 Mustang, consequently handing it over to Jeff Perry of New Carlisle in his ’84 T-Bird. Jason Ford of Kettering and Chris Wheatcraft of Jamestown both ran dead on their dial ins; Ford got the win by a hundredth of a second in the reaction time. Jason Cook of Springfield nailed his 5.70 dial in and turned a .504 light, which was good enough for the win over Jim Smith of Beavercreek in his dragster.

Semi finals saw Ford move to the finals in his dragster with a dead on run at his 5.14 dial in, Perry ran a 6.21 on his 6.22. Cook secured his final spot by running a 5.69 on his 5.76 dial in after Burlie ran 5.97 on a 6.16.

For the final, Cook brought his ’74 Vega to the winner’s circle after running a tight thousandths of second quicker than Ford. Cook dialed in at 5.69 and ran 5.701; Ford dialed in at 5.13 and ran 5.148.

In bracket II pro, there were 58 cars staged up for round one contention. In the quarterfinal round, Michael Roberts of Huber Heights picked up a win in his run against Donnie Manning of West Carrollton, who broke out. Mike Gill of Washington Courthouse also broke out, sending Gil Brannan of Cincinnati to the next round. Mark Stroble of Springfield moved to the next round after Dave Cox of Washington Courthouse broke out and Jason Wheatcraft of Jamestown got the bye run. In the semifinal, Wheatcraft was eliminated by Stroble and Brannan redlighted setting up the final for Roberts and Stroble.   By the time it was said and done, it was Roberts with the final win. He ran a 10.51on a 10.47 dial in to Stroble’s run of 10.20 on a 10.18 dial in.

In pro motorcycle quarters Scott Sheppeard of Tipp City picked up a win over Bob Nugent of Trotwood, Chance Russell of Dayton won his round over Brad Shellhaas of Springfield and although Dave Beavers of Urbana broke out in his run against Burt Exman, but Exman redlighted handing it back over to Beavers. For the semi final, Russell ran a 12.52 on his 12.50 dial in, Sheppeard ran 9.87 on his 9.79 putting Russell in the final. Beavers got the bye run.

In the final, Russell redlighted and Beavers won for the day, running a 9.90 on his 9.87 dial in.

In sportsman quarters, Walt Shade Jr. of Xenia picked up the double break out win over Brian Collier, also of Xenia. Dave Dell’Aria of Miamisburg won his round over Wayne Richardson of Xenia; Richard Hammond of West Milton moved on to the semis over Mike McGriff of Oregonia and Gary Knight of Dayton redlighted, passing the win to Carl Thomas of Kettering.

In the semis Thomas broke out and Hammond ran a 13.64 on a 13.59 dial in. The final was set after Shade ran 13.06 on his 13.02 dial, Dell’Aria 415.54 on his 15.40. That final  run put Shade in the winner’s circle, he ran a 13.02 on his 13.01 dial in; Hammond had a 13.72 on his 13.69.

In high school, Andi Terrell of New Carlisle broke out and Jason Parriman of Dayton went to the next round. Nick Barrett of Beavercreek got the win over Mikey Collier of Dayton and Jeremy Rowland of Middletown redlighted moving Michael Sturgill of Beavercreek to the next round. Aaron Sprauer of Kettering got the bye run.

In the semi final is was Sturgill over Parriman and Sprauer won over Barrett; Sprauer broke out in the final handing the win to Sturgill, who ran a 16.15 on his 6.12 dial in.

There were 33 junior dragsters competing for top spots, the quarterfinals saw Ryan Jenks of Jamestown get the double break out win over Andrew Casanova off Tipp City. Taylor Manning of West Carrollton won the round over Megan Hughes of Jamestown and Brian Emory of Beavercreek got the bye run.

In the semi final, Emory got the better light over Manning and Jenks got the bye run setting the final. Jenks was the winner with a reaction of .520, runner up Emory reacted at .599.
