Saturday was the final points race of the season, at Kil-Kare Dragway. With daylight racing happening, things got off to and early start for day racing.

 

            In Super Pro Quarter Finals, Kelly Foster  saw Steve Black, Foster dialing in at 6.19, and Black with 5.91. Black would make it off the line better with a .509 light, to Foster’s .517. Eight mile win light went to Foster running 6.193 on the 6.19 dial, Black broke out with a 5.90. Next to Stage up was Randy Estridge, and Jason Ford of Kettering. Estridge hails from Columbus, dialing in at 5.16, and Ford dialing a 5.15. Reaction times were close but better for Estridge, with a .522 to Ford’s .524. At the big end we saw a double breakout win for Estridge, running a 5.144 on a 5.16 dial, Ford went 5.132 on a 5.15 dial. The last run of the quarters included Leon Bryan of Jamestown, on the Bye run.

            In the Semi Finals, it was Leon Bryan and Randy Estridge paired up. Bryan dialing the corvette in at 6.05, and Estridge’s Dragster dial 5.14. Estridge was better off the line with a .511 reaction to Bryan’s .520, but the ole Corvette covered the distance to take the win light. Bryan ran a 6.060 on a 6.05 dial. Kelly Foster was the Bye run with the automatic advance to the finals.

            In the final round, Leon Bryan and Kelly Foster paired up for racing, Bryan dialing a 6.05, and Foster a 6.18. Foster was the first off the line with a .530 light, to Bryans .544. In the end, Kelly Foster took the win light, with a 6.190 run on a 6.18 dial.

 

            In Pro Quarters, the Bye run went off first, Jim Yates was the recipient. The first pairing of the Pro quarters was Dave Cox of Washington Court House, against Terri Emrick of Tipp City. Cox Dialing a 10.10, to Emrick’s 11.75. As the tree went down, Cox was faster off the line with a .537 reaction time, to Emrick’s .560.  This time the win light went to Cox with a 10.156 run open a 10.10 dial, Emrick went 11.796. Next was Donnie Manning from West Carrollton, against Chas Picklesimer of New Carlisle. Manning dialed a 10.71 to Picklesimer’s 11.89. A red light for Picklesimer put Manning one more round. Last run of the quarter final round was Mark Stroble and Lyndon Cox. Stroble dialing in at 10.18, and Cox 10.00. Another red light, this time for Cox, pushing Stroble in to the Semis!

            In the Semi finals Jim Yates faced off with Dave Cox, for the final shot. Yates cutting a .517 light and Cox a .519 light, made it close off the tree. At the finish line it was Dave Cox running 10.121 on a 10.11 dial over Yates with a 11.414 on a 11.37 dial. Up next was Donnie Manning and Mark Stroble. Manning would dial 10.71 to Stroble’s 10.18. Reaction time for this run were .573 Manning, and .580 for Stroble. Down at the quarter mile the win light came on for Mark Stroble running a 10.166 on a 10.18 dial.

 

            In the Finals Mark Stroble and Dave Cox dueled it out. Stroble dialing a 10.16 to Cox’s 10.09. Stroble got away better with a .536 reaction time, to Cox’s .543. The winner in the Final Round would end up being Mark Stroble running a 10.165 on a 10.16 dial, and Cox ran a 10.07 breakout on a 10.09 dial!

            In sportsman Jo Cloran Jr and Mike Walter were the first pair to stage. Cloran dialing a 15.10 to Walter’s 12.08. At the tree it was Cloran with what would be the best light of the round, a .502 to Walter’s .590. at the quarter mile the win light fell on Cloran’s side, as he ran a 15.070 for a double breakout win, Walter running a 12.045. Nell Forsythe and Wayne Richardson paired up next for their quarter final round hopes. Forsythe dialed a 15.06, to Richardson’s 17.51. Forsythe’s Mustang cut a .537 light over Richardson’s Ranger with a .599. At the quarter mile we saw a win light for Wayne Richardson running 17.544 on a 17.51 dial. Walt Shade Jr. and Brian Collier were the next to go, shade would dial a 12.84 to Collier’s 13.64. Collier was better off the tree with a .522 reaction and shade with a .541. The win light would go to Walt Shade Jr for a  12.846 on a 12.84 dial. For the final pairing of the sportsman quarters it was Alan Flora and Ricky Shepherd. Flora dialing in at 13.22 and Shepherd dialing a 12.97. As the tree went down, Flora was better off of the line with a .504 light, to Shepherd’s .571. The advance this time would be Alan Flora running a 12.233 to Shepherd’s 12.975.

            In the Sportsman semis we saw Joe Cloran and Wayne Richardson stage up Cloran dialed a 15.10 and Richardson a 17.51. Cloran was better off the tree with a .551 to Cloran’s .571. Quarter mile win light went to Cloran with a 15.072 on a 15.10 dial a double breakout win!  The next set to go, would be Walt Shade Jr. and Alan Flora. Shade’s dial a 12.83 and Flora a 13.20. Off the tree Flora this time had a .503 to Shade’s .576. A double breakout win this run also. Win light for Walt Shade Jr, with a 12.753 to Flora’s 13.107.

            Final round action this class saw Walt Shade Jr. and Joe Cloran Jr. square off for all bragging rights. Shade dials a 12.75 and Cloran a 15.10. As the tree came down the reaction time went as such. Shade off better with a .516 to Cloran’s .526, at the finish the double breakout win goes to Walt Shade Jr, with a 12.742 run on a 12.75 dial.

            Pro Motorcycle quarter finals hit with Kawboy Bob Nugent of Trotwood, against Springfield’s birthday boy Perry Sowers (45 yrs, Happy Birthday Perry!) Nugent dialed a 9.59 and Sowers a 9.20. Nugent was better off of the tree with a .521 to Sowers’ .530. Nugent grabs the win with a 9.630 to Sowers’ 9.340. Next o stage was Russ Withem of Fairborn and Scott Sheppeard of Tipp City. Dials reflected a 11.37 for Withem and Sheppeard a 9.75. Reactions were .564 Withem and .525 for Sheppeard. Win light went to Sheppeard for a 9.711 run on a 9.75 dial double breakout with Withem at 11.262. Burt Exman of Englewood got the bye run.

            Semi finals saw Bob Nugent and Burt Exman staged up, with a 9.61 dial and 8.61 dial for Nugent. Red light hit on the Nugent side, moving Burt on to the finals to face Scott Sheppeard who got the bye in the semis.

            As Scott Sheppeard and Burt Exman staged for final round action, we saw dial of 9.65 Sheppeard, and 8.61 Exman. Close off the tree, a .5300 for Sheppeard and a .5308 for Exman, at the quarter mile, it was Burt going 8.712 to Scott’s 9.814.
