It was a beautiful day for racing, Temp’s was in the upper 60’s and the sun was shining. And the car court was over 200 for week two of racing action here at Kil-Kare. Just a reminder next week the points start and it will be night racing gates open at noon.
In the super pro bracket 83 cars staged up for the first round of action. Nine drivers had five 0 lights with David Ervin hitting a perfect .500 and eight drivers going dead on with Mike Brown running 5.330 on a 5.33 dial in. In round two seven drivers had five 0 lights with Bill Broughton having the best at .501. Three dead on runs with Jay Fedkow running a 5.382 on a 5.38 dial in. In round three no five 0 lights with three running dead on and Leon Bryan the best with a 5.871 on a 5.87 dial in. In round four Robert Jones running a 6.184 on a 6.18 dial in. In the quarterfinals Chuck Burgess of Greenfield, Ohio in his 48 Fiat used a .511 to get by a breaking out Dave Rhoads of Fairborn, Ohio in his 66 Nova. Tim Thatcher of Xenia, Ohio in his Dragster ran a 4.998 on a 4.99 dial in to get by Ken Bigler of Beavercreek, Ohio in his 69 Nova. Evan Kirk of Waynesville, Ohio used a .510 light and ran a 5.150 on a 5.14 dial in to beat Les Latell of Coshocton, Ohio in his Dragster. In the semi finals Evan new paint job Kirk got the bye run. Thatcher ran 4.992 on a 4.99 dial in but red lighted giving the win to Burgess. In the final Burgess had the better light with a .529 to a .534 but broke out giving Kirk his first win of the season.

In the pro bracket 58 cars staged up for round one with five drivers with five 0 bulbs and Bill Haag having the best with a .501 two drivers dead on with Mike Hurless having the best with a 10.354 on a 10.35 dial in. In round two we had two five 0 lights with Bill Haag the best again with a .502 and Jason Hayes running a 11.780 on a 11.78 dial in. In round three Bill Haag again had the best light with a .505 and Mick Pence running a 10.663 on a 10.66 dial in. In the quarterfinals Bob Templin of Greenfield, Ohio in his 69 Camaro had the better light but the win light went to Jerry Walter of Jamestown, Ohio in his 57 Chevy. James Sanders of Riverside, Ohio in his 85 Firebird and Mike Hurless of Washington Court House, Ohio in his 72 Nova both had .543 lights and the double breakout win went to Sanders. Bill Haag of Grove City, Ohio in his Nova had the better light and broke just off the starting line, giving the win to Lonnie Lindsey of Washington Court House, Ohio in his 67 Camaro. Tom Scarpelli of Xenia, Ohio in his 69 Camaro had the better light and got the win light over Charles Picklesimer of New Carlisle, Ohio in his Malibu. In the semi finals Scarpelli red lighted giving the win to Sanders. Lindsey got the win over Walter. In the final Sanders had the better light but Lindsey got the win light.

In the sportsman bracket 23 cars staged up for the first round with Harold Young cutting a .504 light for the best. In the quarterfinals Richard Hammond of West Milton, Ohio in his 87 Firebird had a .504 light and beat Gary Knight of Dayton, Ohio in his 84 Z28. Mike McGriff of Oregonia, Ohio in his 91 Mustang red lighted giving the win to Doug Caplinger of Xenia, Ohio in his 79 Malibu. Bob Maxwell of Galloway, Ohio in his 88 Formula had the better light but the win went to Rob Stacy of New Carlisle, Ohio in his 70 Dart. In the semi finals Caplinger got the bye run. Stacy red lighted giving the win to Hammond. In the final Hammond had the better light and got his first win of the season over Caplinger last years track champion.

In the motorcycle bracket 24 bikes staged up for the first round with four five 0 lights with Chance Russell, Danny Oiler Jr and Sam Cotterman all having .504 lights. Brian Poe ran an 8.601 on an 8.60 dial in. In round two the best light was Perry Sowers with a .503 and he also run an 8.902 on an 8.90 dial in. In the quarterfinals Mike McGrath of Dayton, Ohio on his 77 Kawasaki had the better light .512 to .518 but Danny Oiler Jr of Springfield, Ohio on Larry Sagraves 77 Kawasaki got the win. Perry Sowers of Springfield, Ohio on his Suzuki had the better light and got the win light over Ron Saint of Galloway, Ohio on his 76 Kawasaki. Russell Stewart of North Hampton, Ohio on his 87 Kawasaki red lighted giving the win to Roger Burt of Grove City, Ohio on his 98 Honda. In the semi finals Sowers got the bye run. Burt red lighted giving the win to Oiler Jr. In the final Sowers had the better light and got the win light over Oiler Jr.

In the junior dragster bracket 13 cars staged up for round one with Julie Duty running a 9.190 on a 9.19 dial in. In the quarterfinals Julie Duty of Vandalia, Ohio got the bye run. Mike Philpott of Waynesville, Ohio in his 02 Spitzer got the win over Lacy Emory of Beavercreek, Ohio in her 96 Dragster. Chris Nuss of North Hampton, Ohio in his 02 BOS ran an 8.655 on an 8.65 dial in but red lighted giving the win to Jake the snake Browder of Fairborn, Ohio in his 96 BOS. Andrew Casanova of Tipp City, Ohio in his 00 BOS won a double breakout race over Payton Filson of Fairborn, Ohio in his 01 Half. In the semi finals Browder had a .508 light for the win over Duty. Philpott had the better light and got the win light over Casanova. In the final Philpott got the win with the better light over Browder.
