Kil-Kare dragstrip fielded over 200
cars for Super Saturday racing action. In Super Pro Quarter finals
action it was Ken Sullivan and Steve Herald staging for the first pair.
As they went to the tree it was a better reaction time to Sullivan a
.516, along with a 5.064 on a 5.05 dial. In the next pair it was Jay
Fedkow and Dave Caplinger. Fedkow staged with a 5.47 on the dragster
dial, to the 6.54 of Caplinger. As the pair went to the tree the
reaction time battle was won with a .523 by Fedkow. It was a hard run to
the eighth mile finish, and it would be Caplinger continuing with a
6.542 run on his 6.54 dial. Last pair for the round was Rusty Burlile
and Phil Spradlin. Burlile dialed a 6.08 to the 6.11 of Spradlin. At the
tree it was a .570 for Burlile getting the head start. The win light
would come on for Burlile with a 6.191 run. Super Pro Finals saw Ken Sullivan and Rusty Burlile at the line. Sullivan went red making Burlile the winner on Super Saturday! In Pro quarterfinals it was Mick
Pence and Randy Smith staged first. Pence would dial a 9.81 to the 10.59
of Smith. Smith was better at the tree with a .546 light, but Pence
would hold it to the floor running a 9.840 for the win. In the next pair
it was Bryan Fox and Jerry Walter. Fox dialed a 9.80 to the 10.49 of
Walter. Staging lights came on just before a .525 light for Walter, he
would continue to the win light with a 10.531 run. Steve Collier and
Michael Roberts staged up next. Collier dialed a 10.01, and Roberts a
10.20. As the tree fell, it would be In the semis it was Honsted vs. Pence. At the tree ti was a 10.62 on the dial for Honsted and 9.82 for Pence. Reaction time battle was won by Pence, but not by much. At the quarter mile finish it was Pence with a 9.822 run for the win. Steve Collier and Jerry Walter were up to see who would face Pence in the Pro finals. Collier a 10.01 dial and Walter a 10.48. As the pair went to the tree, Collier was better with a .511, along with a 10.018 run for the win. In the Pro finals it was Steve Collier against Mick Pence. Collier dialed a 10.00 to the 9.82 of Pence. Pence was the better of the two at the tree, with a .510 light, along with a 9.845 run for the win. In the Sportsman quarters it was Eddie Lykins Jr, against Joe Zimmer. Lykins would dial a 17.50 and Zimmer a 13.85. Zimmer fouled out moving Lykins to the semis. Up next it was Howard Ledford against Michael Davis. Ledford dialed the Mustang at a 13.57, Davis a 12.62. Ledford got away better with a .587 light, with a 13.587 run for the win. In sportsman quarters it was Carl Thomas vs. Howard Ledford. Thomas dialed in a 14.51, to the 13.58 on Ledford’s machine. Ledford had the better reaction time with a .552, along with a 13.600 run getting him the winner. Lykins got the Bye into the next round. In the Sportsman finals it was Howard Ledford and Eddie Lykins. At the tree it woul be a 13.58 for Ledford, along with Lykins and his 18.15 dial. At the tree it was Lykins with a .553 reaction time. It was Ledford winning, and Lykins, then!
In Pro bikes, it was Rick Haupt and Steve Withem. Haupt dialed in at an 8.83 to the 10.37 of Withem. Haupt would leave early for the redlight, moving Withem on to the next round. Up next was Bob Nugent and Alan Stamper, Nugent dialed a 9.74 to the 9.80 of Stamper. Stamper was away with a .514 light, along with a 9.890 run for the win.. Last pair for the round was Russ Withem and Sam Cotterman. Withem dialed his bike to a 10.26 and Cotterman an 11.64. Russ got the better light with a .532, along with a 10.324 for the win light. In the Semifinals it was Russ Withem trying to make it an all Withem final, but first had to face Stamper to move on. Stamper dialed a 9.83, and Withem a 10.26. As the pair left the tree it was Stamper with the better light, a .532. At the quarter mile win light it was Stamper with a 9.876 run for the win. Steve Withem had the Bye for the round. In his first ever drag bike race, Steve Withem found himself in the finals to face the man who put his father out of the race, Alan Stamper. Withem would dial a 9.85 to Stamper’s 10.37. Withem was away better with a .524 light, pushing Stamper to the breakout, Withem would get the win, with a 10.387, first time in a Saturday Drag Race! Due to previous rainout, the Jr. Dragster Championship was awarded to Matt Spradlin. In the Junior Quarter Finals, it was Zach Wolf to face Julie Duty. Wolfe dialed an 8.76 to the 7.90 of Duty. Wolfe cut a .511 light, and put it down with an 8.786 run to move to the next round. Up next was Ceslie Shellhaas against Ciera Phillpot. Shellhaas would dial a 9.16 to the 8.73 of Phillpot. Philpot went red, moving Shellhaas to the next round. Up next was Taylor Manning and Ryan Jenks. Manning dialed a 10.50 to the 8.37 of Jenks. Jenks would get the .562 reaction advantage along with an 8.372 run for the win light. Last pair for the round was Shawn Alex and Matt Spradlin. Alex dialed an 11.41 to the 9.58 of Spradlin. Alex cut a .609 light but Spradlin would take the win with a 9.527 double breakout. In the Semis it was Ceslie Shellhaas Zach Wolfe at the line. The reaction time battle was won by Wolfe with a .561 along with an 8.838 run for the win. Next up was Ryan Jenks and Matt Spradlin. Reaction times were only .0008 apart, but it would be Spradlin with the win on a 9.571 run. In the Finals it was Zach Wolfe and Matt Spradlin, Wolfe would red light, giving Spradlin the win. In High School it was Wayne Domanick and Aaron Sprauer at the line for the semis. Domanick dialed a 17.75 to the 18.00 of Sprauer. Sprauer had the advantage with a .537 light. Sprauer would also get the win with an 18.281 run. Up next was Bob Lykins and Brian Hurst. Lykins dialed a 16.50 to the 17.00 of Hurst. Hurst got the better light with a .568, and the win with a 16.869 run. High School Finals saw Brian Hurst dial a 16.82 to the 18.04 of Sprauer. Hurst cut a .522 reaction time along with a 17.011 run for the win.
