Allensworth
Unbeatable at Kil-Kare
by Jerry Wahl
Xenia, OH (8/24) - Who
can stop Tim Allensworth at Kil-Kare Speedway is what
the other drivers are thinking in the NASCAR Whelen
All-American Series feature as he seems to be
unstoppable and Friday night was no different as he
racked up feature win number nine.
Eddie Simpson and
Virgil Powell brought the field to the green flag with
Simpson who earlier won his heat taking the lead with
Jamie Sites and Jamie Hunt falling in right behind
Simpson. Sites did a good job holding off the
challenges of Hunt but seventh place starter
Allensworth was starting to make his way to the front
as he passed Justin Alsip,Gary Estes and then Hunt as
he hunted down the leader.
Allensworth got
around Sites on lap thirteen and then went after
leader Simpson. Lap sixteen showed Allensworth the
leader and from then on it was his #24 out front until
starter Mike Stapleton waved the checker flag.
Justin Alsip
crossed the line second as fast timer and eighth place
starter John Vallo really came on strong in the
closing laps to place third. Four time feature winner
Gary Estes was fourth and fifth was Sites.
The caution did wave
on lap sixteen Jamie Hunt spun and unfortunately had
to drop to the tailend.
During the late
model time trials John Vallo seems to be getting
faster each week. The previous week he fast at 13.964
and this week he reeled off a lap at 13.893
It was a tight
battle in the first late model heat as Jamie Hunt,
John Vallo, and Gary Estes battled back and forth
trying to take the front spot but it was Estes who
succeeded to win with Hunt second and Vallo third.
Eddie Simpson had
little trouble in winning the second heat as he put
some distance on the field to claim the win as there
was some swapping positions behind him with Russ Bobb
taking runner up honors followed by Bobby Justus and
Ricky Bates.
For Dayton's Jason
Mahaffey it was a great night for him as he recorded
his first Muffler Brothers of Xenia modifed feature.
Gary Estes started on the front row along with
Mahaffey with Mahaffey taking the lead followed by
Charlie Davis and Gary Eaton Jr. Mahaffey maintained
the lead while a three car battle developed behind him
between Eaton and Terry Humphrey behind second place
running Davis. Davis held on to claim runner-up with
Eaton third. Humphrey was home fourth and fifth was
Jack Jones.
Jason Mahaffey took
advantage of his pole starting slot to win the first
modified heat with Charlie Davis home second trailed
by Mike Miller and
terry Humphrey.
It was a dog fight
to win the second heat between Dewayne Snyder Jr., and
Shawn Stansell. Snyder held a slight edge over
Stansell all the way around the track until the last
lap when Snyder almost lost it and brushed the
frontstretch wall giving the win to Stansell. With
Snyder second third went to Jack Black III and Rodney
Kreusch was fourth.
The Oakley Blacktop
Compacts got off to a good start and it was pole
sitter Amber Sites doing an excellent job,
jumping out into the lead with Darryl Young running
second and Bo Hoelscher third. Sites continued to lead
as eighth place starter and six time feature winner
Tim Haerr started to work his way to the front.
It looked as if Sites would become the first female
driver to claim a win but an over anxious Haerr nudged
her on turn one to take the lead and steal the win
from Sites. Sites did have her best finish of her
career with the runner-up finish. Hoelscher finished
third with Chris Boggs fourth and Young fifth.
Next Friday night
will be an exciting one for the young fans as it will
be race car rides for kids along with the regular
racing program with the gates opening at 6 p.m. and
racing at 8 p.m.
