Today was the first day race of the season, which means that our season is coming to an end.  I would like to personally thank all of the racers for coming out to Kil-Kare every weekend.

Today was a great day for a drag race.  The weather was nice and we were able to have a good turnout on our first day race.  In the quarter final round James Roberts from Moraine, Ohio raced against Doug Caplinger from Xenia Ohio.  James was able to cut a .5081 light to Doug’s .5289 light.  James starting line advantage was enough to take the win.  In the next match up Tim Thatcher from Xenia, Ohio beat a breaking out John Adkins from Beavercreek, Ohio.  In the last match up of the round Terry Brassington from Dayton, Ohio advanced by receiving the bye run.

In the semi finals Terry Brassington raced against James Roberts.  Terry cut a  .5160 to James’ .5100 light but Terry was able to hold on for the win.  In the last match up in this round Tim Thatcher took the bye run into the final round were he would race against Terry Brassington.

In the final round Tim Thatcher was able to get the starting line advantage and hold on for the win against Terry Brassington.

In the quarterfinals of the Pro class James Sanders from Riverside, Ohio competed against Jeff Carnein from New Holland, Ohio.  James had the starting line advantage and was able to hold on for the win.  In the next match up between Matt Baird from West Carrollton, Ohio defeated a breaking out Rich Wilson from Kettering, Ohio.  In the next match up Steve Collier from Xenia, Ohio defeated a red lighting Doug Caplinger from Xenia, Ohio.

In the semi finals James Sanders competed against Matt Baird.  Matt had the starting line advantage over James and was able to hold on for the win.  However the starting line officials declared that Matt had no tail light and so James was awarded the win.  The final run of the round was a solo pass as Steve Collier advanced to the final round by receiving the bye run.

The final round was between James Sanders and Steve Collier.  When the tree came down Steve pulled the red light and James was given the win in his second final in two weeks.

The quarterfinals of sportsman found some tough competitors trying to take home the win and also trying to use the opportunity to become a quick rev qualifier.  This weeks quick rev qualifier went to Lacy Emory from Beavercreek. Ohio.  Lacy competed against Matt Spradlin from Springfield, Ohio.  Matt cut a .5780 light compared to Lacy’s .7210 light.  Matt’s starting line advantage was enough to hold on for the win.  Brian Collier from Xenia, Ohio competed against Mike McGriff from Oregonia, Ohio in the next race of the round.  Brian was trying to make his way to the final round like his uncle did in the Pro bracket.  Brian cut a .5421 light to Mike’s .5401 light.  Brian ran dead on his dial and forced Mike to break out.  The final race of the round was a bye run given to Paul A. Gibbs from Beavercreek, Ohio.

In the Semi finals Matt Spradlin was able to defeat Paul Gibbs by getting the starting line advantage.  Like his uncle in Pro Brian advanced to the final round by receiving the bye run.

The final round of sportsman was between Brian Collier and Matt Spradlin.  Brian was trying to better his uncle and take the win and Matt was trying to prevent this.  Matt cut a .5011 light compared to Brian’s .5462 light.  At the finish line however the starting line advantage was not enough to hold on for the win.  Brian ran a 13.2087 on his 13.20 dial in and forcing Matt to break out with a 17.3890 on his 17.50 dial in.  With Brian’s win he was able to put a wider lead over number two in the points and with two races to go he is looking good for the championship.

In the quarterfinals of Motorcycle Homeboy Homer England from West Chester, Ohio faced off against Larry Hunter from Xenia, Ohio. Larry had the starting line advantage but fell off the pace and Homer was able to drive around him for the win. In the next match up Ron Saint from Grove City, Ohio raced against Barry Coffman from Dayton, Ohio.  Ron cut a .5000 light to Barry’s .5300 light.  Ron’s starting line advantage was all that was needed to take the win.  In the last match up of the round Michael Nugent took the bye into the semi finals.
