Xenia, Ohio- Super Saturday racing action was made twice as nice, with two races in one day! Super Saturday began after the conclusion of the 4/28 event, All competitors were allowed two time run sessions, and then the Super Saturday double points racing action was kicked off!
In the Super Pro quarterfinals it was
Kyle Tagg of Sabina, dialing his 70 Vega to a 6.65 to face Jim Smith
dialed at a 4.80 in his dragster. Smith won the reaction time battle,
however Tagg got there first, with a 6.6522 run at 101.99 Mph. Up next
it would be Bill Caudill from Riverside vs. JR Lockhart also of
Riverside. Caudill’s ’71 Duster dialed in at a 5.02, Lockhart’s Dragster
a 4.99. The better of the two at the tree would be Caudill with a .512
light. The Win light would come on for Bill Caudill with a 5.0248 run at
136.88 Mph. Up Next was Jay Fedkow (Xenia) against Tim Louderback(Xenia).
Fedkow dialed his Camaro in at a 6.40 to the 5.58 for the dragster of
Louderback. The reaction time battle was won by Fedkow with a .501,
along with a 6.4009 run for the win light. Up next was Ken Sullivan
(West Carrolton) and Dean Karns ( Dayton). Sullivan dialed his dragster
in at 5.00, to the 4.89 of Karns..0021 difference at the tree made for a
great race, but the win light would go to Karns with a 4.8908 run at
142.54 Mph. A late final round went down the track at 12:35 Sunday Morning, with Bill Caudill dialed in with a 5.00 to the 4.89 of Karns. Karns reaction was best with a .510 along with a 4.8939 run at 141.61 Mph for the Super Pro Double Points Win!
In the Semis Michael Roberts faced Rob Matthews. Roberts dialed a 10.30 to the 9.89 of Matthews. Roberts got the better reaction time with a .538 light, along with a 10.3021 run for the win light. Matt Baird had the Bye to the finals to Face Roberts.
In the finals Roberts would dial a 10.30 to the 9.84 of Baird. At the tree Baird had the better reaction time with a .513, along with a 9.8611 run for the breakout win!
Pro Bike Field was up on Super Saturday, in the quartfinals it would be Jesse Sowers (Urbana) against Brad Shellhaas(Springfield). Sowers dialed his bike to a 9.96 to the 9.15 of Shellhaas. Sowers with a good light a .502 sent him riding down the track to a win light with a 9.9720 run at 122.28 Mph. Up next was jody Wogoman(Xenia) against Homer “Homeboy” England (West Chester). Wogoman would dial in at a 9.10 to the 9.63 of England. Only .001 differecnce at the tree but better was England. At the finish line it would be England with the win after a 9.6469 ride at 132.29 Mph. Chance Russel (Dayton) was up next to face Kawboy Bob Nugent(Trotwood). Russel dialed a 9.33 to the 9.69 of Nugent. Identical Reaction Times for this race made it really interesting at the finish line, the win light would go to Chance Russell with a 9.3131.
In the semis it was Chance Russel would face Homer England. Russell would dial a 9.33 to the 9.63 of England. At the tree Chance Russell pulled a PERFECT .5000 light, which made it difficult to beat. Russell would get the win light after a 9.3468 ride at 136.78 Mph. Jesse Sowers got the Bye run to the finals. In the finals it would be Sowers dialing a 9.90 to the 9.40 of Russell. Sowers pulled away with a .526 light along with a 9.9299 ride for the win.
In Sportsman Doug Caplinger won the Quick Rev Top Sportsman award, qualifing him for the Quick Rev Challenge at the end of the year. In the Quarterfinals it was Dean Karns (Fairborn) facing Brian Collier (Xenia). Karns dialed 18.50 to the 17.12 of Collier. Karns saw a .534 for the better reaction time. At the finish line it would be Brian Collier with a 17.1229 run for the win. Doug Caplinger (Xenia) and Joe Zimmer(Dayton) Staged next. Capling showing a 12.03 dial to the 13.52 of Zimmer for the next pair. Zimmer got the red light which moved Caplinger to the next round. John Cox(Tipp City) faced Brian Emory (Beavercreek) in the final pair of the round. Cox dialed a 13.16 to the 16.36 of Emory. Emory got the better light with a .623 and would take the win with a 16.4001 run.
In the Semis Cpalinger would face Collier. Collier dialed a 17.10 to the 12.03 of Caplinger. Caplinger got the better reaction time with a .550 but would not receive the win as Collier made it with a 17.1190 run at 80.32Mph. Brina Emory had the Bye run into the finals.
In the finals Emory would dial a 16.39 to the 17.17 of Collier. Collier was better at the tree with a reaction time of a .582 with a run of 17.1700 dead on the dial for the win light!
Junior dragsters staged with Billy
Sellman(Hillsboro) facing Walt Crum(Beavercreek). Sellman dialed a
10.35, and Crum a 9.32. Sellman pulled the red light, and Crum went to
the next round. Mike Morris had the Bye run in the Quarters. Final pair
for the round was Lacy Emory(Beavercreek) against Melanie
Raise(Hillsboro). Emory would dial a 7.90 to the 10.85 of Raise.
Starting line difference was .003 secs, at the win light it was Melanie
Raise with a 10.8662 run at 58.12 Mph. In the Semifinals it wold be Mike
Morris against Melanie Raise. Morris would dial a 9.72 to the 10.85 of
Raise. Morris got away with the better light, but would breakout sending
Melanie Raise to face Bye Runner Walt Crum in the Finals. Junior Dragster Finals would see Walt Crum against Melanie Raise. Crum would pull away with a red light making Melanie Raise the winner.
