Weekly Round-up

Saturday was a bright and sunny day. The temperature was not as warm as it had been in the past few weeks. It was a wonderful day to go drag racing. We had a great turnout for the no box nationals and even awarded a bonus to the drivers that ran closest to their dial-ins.

We had about 100 cars for the no box nationals were the racers were competing for $1200. In the quarters finals we had Bryan Fox from Springfield Oh, matched up against John Bosier from Sabina Oh. Bryan Fox had a 511 light to Bosier 515, Bosier broke out giving Fox the win. Next, we have Gwayne Honeycutt from Urbana Oh racing against Kenny Rogers from Xenia Oh, Kenny red lighted giving Gwayne the win. Phil Borton from Urbana, OH broke out to Roger Ledbetter from Riverside Oh. Carl Thomas, from Kettering, OH came up against Kenny Long, from Springfield, OH. Both drivers left the starting line with close reaction times but in the end, Kenny broke out giving Carl Thomas the win. In the last match-up, we saw Bob Maxwell from Galloway, OH defeated Rob Crider, from Kettering, OH.

In the quarterfinal finals Gwayne Honeycutt paired up against Roger Ledbetter, the race was close but in the end, Ledbetter broke out giving Gwayne the win. Bryan Fox raced Carl Thomas; Fox cut the better light and was able to hang on for the win. Bob Maxwell received the bye run to advance into the semi finals.

In the semi’s Gwayne Honeycutt received, the Bye run and was able to advance to the final round. In the other semi match, up Bob Maxwell defeated Bryan Fox.

In the final round, we saw a bracket two racer Gwayne Honeycutt race against a street driven car of Bob Maxwell. The race at the starting line was close but Maxwell did not have enough to beat Gwayne’s dead on the dial 10.20 run.

In the first round, the driver that won the bonus, money for having the closest package was Jim Yates Jr.

In Super pro, we had about 100 cars before buy backs in the second round. We had a new winner for the year and a new points leader. In the first round, the bonus was split between Christina Pariman and Tim Thatcher because both drivers were able to run dead on their dial.

In the quarterfinals, we saw Daniel Kendal from Urbana, OH paired up against Jim Smith from Beavercreek, OH. Both drivers had almost identical reaction times but in the end, Kendal broke out giving Smith the win. Another match up was between first time driver this year Courtney Cluxton, from Lynchburg, OH racing against Jerry Dunkel, from Kettering, OH. This race was decided at the starting line with Dunkel pulling the red light and giving Courtney the automatic win. In the final match up of the quarterfinals, we saw Kevin Brassington, from West Carollton, OH defeat a breaking out Dave Cox, from Washington Court House, OH.

In the semi, finals Kevin Brassington received the bye run to advance into the final round. The other semi final match up was between Courtney Cluxton and Jim Smith. Both drivers left the starting line with close reaction times but in the end, Jim Smith’s dragster was just too much for Courtney’s dragster.

In the final, we saw Kevin Brassington defeat a red lighting Jim Smith for his first win of the year. With Jim Smith’s, final round appearance he was able to take the points lead away from Jason Farquer by four points.

In Pro Motorcycle, we had a good turn out of 30 bikes in the first round. We had some tough competitors racing in the first round and the bonus money went to Tim Cooper for running dead on his dial with a three.

In the quarterfinals, we saw Brad Doyle, from Dayton, OH defeat Tim Cooper, from Springfield, OH. This race was decided on the starting line with Brad getting the better light. In the next match up Brad Shellhaas, from Springfield, OH defeated Dave Beavers, from Urbana, OH, Brad had the better light, which gave him the advantage on the double break out. Glen Lakins, from Trenton, OH paired up against David Sawyer, from Springfield, OH. When they left the starting line, the race was close but in the end, it was David Sawyer taking the win. In the final race of the quarterfinals we saw Nathan Thatcher, from Springfield, OH complete his bye round to advance to the semi finals.

The semi’s brought about a match up between Brad Shellhaas and David Sawyer. Sawyer beat Shellhaas on the lights was able to hold on for the victory. In the other semi match up Nathan Thatcher defeated Brad Doyle.

In the final round, it was David Sawyer defeating Nathan Thatcher for his first win of the year.
 

In the Junior categories, we had some new winners and some repeat winners. In the eight and nine year old class, we watched Dylan Northup, from Springfield, OH defeat AJ Eley, from Wapakoneta, OH.

In the ten through twelve-year-old class, James Smith, from Beavercreek, OH, put another win under his belt by defeating Michelle Morris, from Dayton, OH.

In the thirteen and up class Julie Duty, from Vandalia, OH won another race and defeated Mike Morris, from Dayton, OH. The Semi finalist was Lacy Emory.
