Kil-Kare June 30,2007 Saturday, June 30, 2007 was a bright and sunny day. The temperature was not as warm as it had been in the past few weeks. It was a wonderful day to go drag racing. We had a good turn out for 4th of July weekend. We had a great turn out in Super Pro with over 100 cars. In the quarters finals we had Billy Back from New Carlisle Oh, matched up against Rusty Burlile from Huber Heights, Oh. Billy Back had a .517 light to Burlile’s .525, Billy ran closer to his dial and took the win. Next, we have Jason Ford from Kettering, Oh racing against Jason Cook from Springfield, Oh Jason Ford had a .526 light and Jason Cook had a .514 light however Jason Ford got the finish line and the win. Tim Louderback from Xenia, OH had the hole shot advantage over Don Hunter from Hillsboro, OH and took the win. Phil Spradlin, from Springfield, OH had the bye run into the semi finals. In the semi’s Billy Back cut a .501 light to Phil Spradlins .573 light. Billy got the finish light first and the advance into the finals. In the other semi match, up Jason Ford cut a .517 light to Louderback’s .536, Louderback broke out giving Jason the win into the final round. In the final round Jason Ford had the starting line advantage with a .511 light to Billy’s .531 light. Billy ran dead on his dial but it was not enough to overcome Jason. Jason Ford was able to take the win and was able to award himself a great birthday present. In pro, we had about 100 cars before buy backs in the second round. In the quarterfinals, we saw Steve Collier from Xenia, OH had the bye run into the semi finals. Another match up was between Mike Gill, from Washington CH, OH racing against Rick Shepherd, from Dayton, OH. Rick got the starting line advantage but broke out giving Gill the win. In the next match-up Mike Hurless from Washington CH, Ohio pulled the red-light giving Gwayne Honeycutt from Urbana, Ohio. In the final match up of the quarterfinals, we saw Mike Little, from Fairborn, OH defeat Matt Baird, from West Carrolton, OH. In the semi, finals Mike Gill had the starting line advantage and was able to beat a breaking out Mike little. The other semi final match up was between Steve Collier and Gwayne Honeycutt. Steve had a .550 light and ran dead on his dial defeating a breaking out Gwayne Honeycutt. In the final, we saw Steve Collier get the starting line advantage over Mike Gill. Steve was able to hold on at the finish line to defeat Mike. In the quarterfinals of Sportsman we had some close races and some contenders facing off. The first match-up was between John Cox from Tipp city, Ohio and Terry Knight from Fairborn, Ohio. It was a close race at the starting line but John was able to take the win with a dead on the dial run. The next match-up was between Harold Young from Riverside, Ohio paired up against Doug Caplinger from Xenia, Ohio. Harold was able to take the win because Doug broke out by two. Brian Emory from Beavercreek, Ohio faced off against Danielle Manker from Xenia, Ohio. Danielle couldn’t wait for a green light and gave Brian the win. In the final race of the round James Browder III had the bye run into the semi finals. In the next round the red light bug struck two racers giving their opponents an easy advance to the final round. The first match-up was between Harold Young and Brian Emory. Brian pulled the red light and gave Harold the easy win into the finals. In the other race we watched James Browder III defeat a red lighting John Cox. In the final round we watched an older racer and a young gun face off for the chance to be the winner in Sportsman. James got the chance to leave first and Harold was right behind. Harold got the starting line advantage and was able to overcome James for the win.
In Pro Motorcycle, we had a good turn out of 33 bikes in the first round. We had some tough competitors racing. In the quarterfinals, we saw Barry Coffman, from Dayton, OH defeat Michael Nugent, from Tipp City, OH. This race was decided on the starting line with Barry getting the better light. In the next match up Homeboy Homer England, from West Chester, OH defeated Roger Wilhelm Jr., from Urbana, OH, Homer had the better light, which gave him the advantage and the win. Brian Poe, from Cable, OH paired up against Tim Cooper, from Springfield, OH. When they left the starting line, the race was close but in the end, it was Brian taking the win. In the final race of the quarterfinals we saw Dave Beavers, from Urbana, OH race against Paul Herald Jr. from Springfield, Ohio. Paul unfortunately rolled the lights giving Dave the advance. The semi’s brought about a match up between Barry Coffman and Dave Beavers. Barry had the starting line advantage and was able to beat Dave Beavers for a chance at the finals. In the other semi match up Homer competed against Brian Poe. It was close on the starting line but Homer had the slight advantage and was able to hold on for the win. In the final round, it was Barry Coffman taking the win over Homer England. In the Junior categories, we had some new winners and some repeat winners. In the eight and nine year old class, we watched Wyatt Kessler, from Sabina, OH defeat Mikah Miller, from Xenia, OH. The semi finalist was Caleb Ellison. In the ten through twelve-year-old class, James Smith, from Beavercreek, OH, put another win under his belt by defeating Shayla Babb from Xenia, OH. The Semi finalist was Melanie Rase. In the thirteen and up class we saw another Browder in the final round. Ben Browder from Fairborn, Ohio faced Dylan Bair from Urbana, Ohio. In this race Ben had the starting line advantage with a .505 light forcing Dylan to break out. Ben was able to take the win. The Semi finalists were Julie Duty and Emily Kathe. In the high school class Jake the Snake Browder was able to join his brother Ben with a win. We hope to see you next weekend at Kil-Kare for Super Saturday Double Points. |
