Weekly Round-up
On June 16,2007 at Kil-Kare Dragway racers came from different
areas of Ohio to compete for a Wally and a chance to be known as the
National Dragster Challenge winner.
It was a spectacular day for racing and at the track we saw many
different cars and motorcycles. We
even had, for the first time this year a High School race. In bracket one we saw a fierce competition among racers. People were fighting to be called the National Dragster Challenge winner. In the Semi finals Ed Beyer, from Beavercreek, Ohio receive the bye run into the final. In the other semi final match-up we saw Steve Taylor, from Riverside, Ohio defeat Richard Hammond, of Huber Heights, Ohio. In the final round the Wally was awarded to Steve Taylor as he defeated Ed Beyer with a starting line advantage.
In bracket two we had Mike Hurless, Dave Baker, Michael Roberts, and Ron Simko all compete to see who would make it into the final round and the chance to win the Wally. In the end the final round came down to Michael Roberts defeat a red lighting Dave Baker.
In bracket three we
watched Doug Caplinger, from Xenia defeat a red lighting Charles
Pickleshiemer. In the other
semi final match-up we saw Brian Emory losing to an unknown driver. In the final round it was Doug Caplinger who won the final round and was handed the Wally and the title of National Dragster Challenge winner. In the semi finals we watched Homeboy Homer England defeat Ron Saint. In the other semi finals Rick Haupt defeated Dave Beavers. In the final we saw identical reaction times from both drivers but in the end Rick Haupt was able to take the win with his closer run on his dial in. In the juniors eight and
nine year class we saw Caleb Ellison defeat Mikah Miller. In the ten to twelve year old class James Smith defeated
Shayla Babb for another win in Junior dragster.
In the thirteen and up class we saw Emily Kathe defeat Lacy
Emory. In high school Colton Graham defeated Aaron Sprauer for the first high school race of the season.
