Kil-Kare July 14, 2007 By: Alexis and Chelsea Gentry Last Saturday we had our first ever Quick Rev Super Pro High Roller race. This race was a $500 entry and was guaranteeing 100% payout the drivers involved. The day proved to be a great day for racing. We had a good turnout in every class.
In the high roller race we had 10 tech cards purchased but only 9
drivers competing for the win. In
the quarterfinals we had Disco Dean Karns Jr. from Fairborn, Ohio
compete against JR Lockhart from Riverside, Ohio.
Disco Dean cut a .509 light to JR’s .546 light and in the end
was able to hang on for the win. In
the next match up Joshua Morgan from Fairborn, Ohio raced against Jason
Cook from Urbana, Ohio. When
they left the starting line both drivers had almost an identical
reaction time but Joshua was able to run closer to his dial and hold off
Jason. In the final race of
the round Greg Kain from Kettering, Ohio, had a bye run into the semi
finals. In the semi finals Joshua Morgan faced off against Greg Kain. Joshua had the starting line advantage and was able to hold on for the win into the final. Disco Dean had the bye run into the final were he would face off against Joshua Morgan for the chance to be the high roller winner. In the final Joshua Morgan had a .522 light to Disco Deans .535 light. Joshua ran a 5.11 on a 5.10 and Disco Dean ran a 4.98 on a 4.98, however the slight starting line advantage from Joshua was enough for him to hold on for the win.
In bracket one we had a good turnout of cars. In the quarterfinals we saw Mark Griffith from New Carlisle, Ohio defeat a fouling out George Buchhalter from Fairborn, Ohio. The next match-up was Joshua Morgan from Fairborn, Ohio and Dave Caplinger from Xenia, Ohio. Joshua was able to take the easy win because Dave pulled the red light. In the final race of the round Dave Cox from Washington Court House, Ohio received the bye run into the semi finals. In the semi finals Mark Griffith faced off against Dave Cox, the race was close but in the end Mark advanced to the final round. In the other semi final match up Joshua Morgan received the bye run into the final round to place him in his second final round of the night. When the super pro final round came about many people were waiting to see if Joshua Morgan could win two races in one night. Earlier in the night he had beat Dean Karn Jr. in the High Roller race. Joshua faced off against Mark Griffith in the final of super pro. When both drivers left the starting line they had almost identical reaction times. At the finish line both drivers ran on their dial in but Griffith proved to be too much for Josh and he was awarded the win.
In pro, we had about 100 cars before buy backs in the second round. In the quarterfinals Carl Thomas from Kettering, Ohio cut a .285 to Paul Allen from Kettering, Ohio .505. With the starting line advantage Paul was able to take the win. In the next match up Rich Wilson from Kettering, Ohio cut a .552 light to Bryan Fox from Springfield, Ohio .569. Bryan’s hard charging dragster was too much for Rich’s breaking out truck, giving Bryan the win. Kenny Long from Springfield, Ohio red lighted giving the automatic win to Bill Livesay from Fairborn, Ohio. The final match-up of the round found Rob Nixon from West Chester, Ohio receiving the bye run into the semi finals. In the semi finals Bryan Fox defeated a red lighting Bill Livesay. In the final match up of the round we watched Rob Nixon defeat a breaking out Paul Allen. In the final Rob Nixon cut a .557 light to Bryan Fox’s .594 light. It was a close race but in the end Rob Nixon’s starting line advantage was enough to get the win. In the quarterfinals of Sportsman we had some close races and some contenders facing off. The first match up was between Brian Emory from Beavercreek, Ohio against Judy Partida from Beavercreek, Ohio. Brian cut a .507 light to Judy’s .807 light. Brian’s starting line advantage was enough to take the win. The next match-up was Howard Ledford from Kettering, Ohio defeating Charles Picklesimer from New Carlisle, Ohio. In the last race of the round Bob Maxwell from Galloway, Ohio made his bye run and advanced to the semi final. In the Semi finals Bob Maxwell came up against Howard Ledford. Bob had the starting line advantage and was able to hang on for the win. In the other semi final match up Brian Emory had the bye run to advance to the final. The final round found Bob Maxwell racing against Brian Emory. Bob had the starting line advantage over Brian and on a double breakout was able to take the win. In the quarterfinals Barry Coffman from Dayton, Ohio faced off against Brian Poe from Cable, Ohio. It was a close race at the starting line, however Brian broke out giving Barry the win. In the next match up Jody Wogoman from Xenia, Ohio defeated a red lighting Brad Shellhaas from Springfield, Ohio. The next match up was between Glenn Lakins from Trenton, Ohio defeated Dave Beavers from Urbana, Ohio. The race was close at the starting line but Glenn was able to hang on to the double breakout win. In the semi final round Glenn Lakins competed against Jody Wogoman. Glenn had a .507 light to Jody’s .520 light. The staring line advantage of Glenn was enough to keep a hard charging breaking Jody at bay. In the last race of the round Barry Coffman had the bye run to advance to the final round. The final round was between Glenn Lakins and Barry Coffman. When both riders left the starting line they had almost identical reaction times. However in the end Barry was able to take the win by running dead on his dial to a falling off Glenn. In junior dragster this week because most of the junior were in Bristol competing we combined the age groups and ran one class. In the final round we found Lacy Emory from Beavercreek, Ohio competing against Taylor Manning from West Carrolton, Ohio. Taylor pulled the red light giving the automatic win to Lacy. In the Semi finals we had Megan Hughes and Brooke Adams. Also I want to make a special congratulations to Mike Morris from Dayton, Ohio for winning the 13-year-old class down in Bristol Tennessee at the Jr. Dragster Eastern Finals. In the high school class we had two competitors which set up the final round. In the final it was a repeat of the week before. We saw Andrew England from West Chester, Ohio compete against Jake Rowe from Urbana, Ohio. Jake had the slight reaction time advantage but was not able to run close to his dial and catch Andrew. Andrew was the winner for this week. We hope to see you next weekend at Kil-Kare for the JEG's Super Quick Series race.
