Kil-Kare August 11, 2007 Xenia, Ohio By: Alexis and Chelsea Gentry This past Saturday we had a fierce competition between competitors trying to win the title of King of the Track. At the end of the night each competitor from each of the four main classes had two chances to take the title and the Wally home with them. The four competitors that were competing for the title was Jason Cook for bracket one, Shawn Stacy for bracket two, Alan Flora for bracket three, and Jody Wogoman for Pro Motorcycle. Each driver was given the chance to produce the best package out of a two run elimination against the clock. In the end Jody Wogoman was given the Wally and the chance to be known as the King of the Track with a .5178 light on a 9.22 dead on his dial run. In bracket one we had a good turnout of cars. With the points chase in this class being very close we had a lot of tough competitors trying to gain ground on their positions. In the quarter final round Jason Cook from Springfield, Ohio raced against Matthew Barrett from Beavercreek, Ohio. Both drivers had almost identical lights off of the starting line but Jason was able to hold on for the win. In the next match up Andy McConnaughey from Springfield, Ohio beat a breaking out Nathan Baker from Xenia, Ohio. In the last match up of the round John Montgomery from South Charleston, Ohio advanced by receiving the bye run. In the semi finals Andy McConnaughey raced against John Montgomery. Andy cut a perfect .500 light and was able to hold on for the win. In the last match up in this round Jason Cook took the bye run into the final round were he would race against Andy. In the final round Jason Cook was able to get the starting line advantage and hold on for the win against Andy McConnaughey. In the quarterfinals of the Pro class Gwayne Honeycutt from Urbana, Ohio competed against Jason Hays from Dayton, Ohio. Gwayne had the starting line advantage and was able to take the win. In the next match up Shawn Stacy from Beavercreek, Ohio defeated a breaking out Dave Baker from Xenia, Ohio. In the final race of the round Pat McFaden from Bainbridge, Ohio made the bye run into the semi finals. In the semi finals Gwayne Honeycutt was able to beat a red lighting Pat McFadden to advance to his third final round in a row. In the last race of this round Shawn Stacy advanced to the final round by receiving the bye run. In the final Shawn Stacy cut a .6101 light to Gwayne’s .5740 light. Shawn was able to hold off a hard charging Gwayne by running dead on his dial to Gwayne’s break out. In the quarterfinals of the Sportsman class we saw some tough competition. The first match up was between Doug Caplinger from Xenia, Ohio and Howard Ledford from Kettering, Ohio. Doug was able to take the win because Howard pulled the red light. In the next match up Steve Collier from Dayton, Ohio competed against Mike McGriff from Oregonia, Ohio. Steve was able to get the starting line advantage and hold on for the win over Mike. In the next match up Charles Picklesimer from New Carlisle, Ohio competed against James Browder from Beavercreek, Ohio. Charles was able to hold off a hard charging James to take the win and the advance into the semi finals. In the final match up of the round Alan Flora from Franklin, Ohio raced against Ronnie Evans from Xenia, Ohio. Alan was able to get the advantage off of the starting line and was able to hold off a hard charging Ronnie to take the win into the semi finals. In the Semi finals Steve Collier was able to defeat a breaking out Doug to advance to the final round. In the last matchup of the round Alan Flora was able to take the win over Charles Picklesimer. In the final round Alan Flora cut a .5510 light to Steve’s .5630 light. Alan was able to catch Steve Collier and take the win. In the quarterfinals of Motorcycle Scott Sheppeard from Tipp City, Ohio faced off against Homer Homeboy England from West Chester, Ohio. Scott had the starting line advantage and was able to hold on for the win. In the next match up Perry Sowers from Springfield, Ohio defeated Steve Withem from Fairborn, Ohio. The next match up was between Roger Wilhelm Jr. from Urbana, Ohio defeated Burt Exman from Englewood, Ohio. The final match up of the round was Jody Wogoman from Xenia, Ohio who received the bye run. In the semi final round Jody Wogoman competed against Scott Sheppeard. Scott pulled the red light and Jody advanced into the final round. In the last race of the round Roger Wilhelm Jr. defeated Perry Sowers to advance to the final round. The final round was between Jody Wogoman and Roger Wilhelm Jr. Jody had a .5159 light to Roger’s .5368 light. Jody was able to use the starting line advantage to take the win on a double breakout. In the semi final round Emily Kathe, from Xenia, Ohio defeated a breaking out Andrew England from West Chester, Ohio to advance to the final round. Jake Browder from Fairborn, Ohio defeated a breaking out Tyler Burgert from Dayton, Ohio. In the final round Jake Browder defeated a breaking out Emily Kathe. In the thirteen and older class their was a hard battle between competitors to be in the final. Emily Kathe from Xenia, Ohio competed against Mike Morris from Dayton, Ohio in the final round. Emily cut a .5128 light to Mike’s .5881 light. Emily’s starting line advantage proved to be too much for Mike. The semi finalist was Billy Sellman from Hillsboro, Ohio. In the ten to twelve-year-old class we watched Shawn Pitts from London, Ohio competed against James Smith from Beavercreek, Ohio. Shawn Pitts was able to defeat a red lighting James. The semi finalists were Shayla Babb from Xenia, Ohio and Edmond Ellison from Beavercreek, Ohio. In the eight and nine year old class Jerry Rase from Hilsboro, Ohio was able to take the single run win. The semi finalist was Caleb Ellison from Beavercreek, Ohio.
