Kil-Kare August 4, 2007 Xenia, Ohio By: Alexis and Chelsea Gentry The first Saturday of the month has come and gone and with it came Super Saturday Double points night. The night was full of tension and for some a chance to make up some ground toward the Indy Points chase. This year at the bracket finals Kil-Kare will be taking 8 competitors in each class plus two high school drivers. In bracket one we had a good turnout of cars. With the points chase in this class being very close we had a lot of tough competitors trying to gain ground on their positions. In the quarter final round Allen Miller from Christianburg, Ohio raced against Doug Quillen from Moraine, Ohio. Both drivers had almost identical lights off of the starting line but Allen was able to hold on for the win by running dead on his dial. In the next match up Vernon Angles from Hillsboro, Ohio beat a breaking out Dave Caplinger from Xenia, Ohio. In the last match up of the round Jerry Dunkel from Kettering, Ohio defeated Ed Beyer Jr. from Beavercreek, Ohio. In the semi finals Vernon Angles raced against Alllen Miller. Allen had the starting line advantage but he was unable to take the win over a hard charging Vernon. In the last match up in this round Jerry Dunkel took the bye run into the final round were he would race against Vernon Angles. In the final round Jerry Dunkel cut a .5110 light to Vernon’s .5341 light. Dunkel’s starting line advantage was enough for him to hold on for the win. In the quarterfinals of the Pro class Rich Wilson from Kettering, Ohio competed against Steve Collier from Xenia, Ohio. Rich had the starting line advantage and was able to take the double break out win. In the next match up Gwayne Honeycutt from Urbana, Ohio defeated a breaking out Paul Allen from Kettering, Ohio. In the final race of the round Mark Stroble from Springfield, Ohio made the bye run into the semi finals. In the semi finals Gwayne Honeycutt was able to take the starting line advantage over Mark Stroble. Gwayne ran a 10.30 on a 10.30 to Strobles breaking out 9.86 on a 9.87. In the last race of this round Rich Wilson advanced to the final round by receiving the bye run. In the final Rich Wilson cut a .5041 light to Gwayne’s .5428 light. Rich was able to use his starting line advantage to take the Super Saturday win and defeat Gwayne. In the quarterfinals of the Sportsman class we saw some tough competition. The first match up was between Ronnie King from Urbana, Ohio and James Browder from Beavercreek, Ohio. Ronnie was able to take the win because James broke out. In the next match up Harold Young from Riverside, Ohio competed against Ryan Jenks from Jamestown, Ohio. Ryan was able to get the starting line advantage and hold on for the win over Harold. In the next match up Charles Picklesimer from New Carlisle, Ohio competed against John Cox from Tipp City, Ohio. Birthday boy Charles was able to hold off a hard charging John to take the win and the advance into the semi finals. In the final match up of the round Jesse Sahyors from Xenia, Ohio raced against Doug Caplinger from Xenia, Ohio. Jesse was able to get the advantage off of the starting line and was able to hold off a hard charging Doug to take the win into the semi finals. In the Semi finals Charles was able to defeat a red lighting Ronnie King to advance to the final round. In the last matchup of the round Ryan Jenks was able to take the win over Jesse on a double breakout race. In the final round Charles Picklesimer cut a .6189 light to Ryan’s .5469 light. Charles was able to catch a slowing Ryan to take the win on his birthday. In the quarterfinals of Motorcycle Barry Coffman from Dayton, Ohio faced off against Glen Lakins from Trenton, Ohio. Barry had the starting line advantage and was able to hold on for the win. In the next match up Burt Exman from Englewood, Ohio defeated Russell Stewart from North Hampton, Ohio. The next match up was between Steve Withem from Fairborn, Ohio defeated Paul Herald Jr. from Springfield, Ohio. In the semi final round Burt Exman competed against Steve Withem. Burt Exman had a .5328 light to Steve’s .5629 light. The staring line advantage of Burt was enough to keep a hard charging Steve at bay. In the last race of the round Barry Coffman had the bye run into the final round. The final round was between Barry Coffman and Burt Exman. Barry had a .5048 light to Burt’s .4919 light. Barry took the when over a red lighting Burt. In the Quarter finals Emily Kathe from Xenia, Ohio had the bye run into the semi final round. Andrew England from West Chester defeated Aaron Sprauer from Kettering, Ohio. Jake Browder from Fairborn, Ohio defeated Brittany Sheppeard from Tipp City, Ohio. In the semi final round Emily Kathe defeated a breaking out Andrew England to advance to the final round. Jake Browder had the bye run into the final. In the final round Emily Kathe defeated a breaking out Jake Browder. In the thirteen and older class their was a hard battle between competitors to be in the final. Ben Browder from Fairborn, Ohio competed against Julie Duty from Vandalia, Ohio in the final round. Ben cut a .5750 light to Julie’s .6160 light. Ben’s starting line advantage proved to be too much for Julie. The semi finalist was Brad Burlile from Morrow, Ohio. In the ten to twelve-year-old class we watched James Smith from Beavercreek, Ohio competed against Edmond Ellison from Beavercreek, Ohio. James was able to hold on to take the win over Edmond. The semi finalists were Michelle Morris from Dayton, Ohio and Shayla Babb from Xenia, Ohio. In the eight and nine year old class Caleb Ellison from Beavercreek, Ohio competed against Taylor Cook. Caleb cut a .6019 light compared to Taylor’s red lighting .3829 light giving Caleb the automatic win. The semi finalist was Mikah Miller from Xenia, Ohio.
