Lamb Takes USAC Ignite Series Win at KilKare
Xenia OH: The USAC Ignite Midget Series paid a visit to KilKare Speedway Friday night (6/14) giving the weekly stock cars a chance to see future stars as the series featured drivers as young as eleven years old in action. A field of 16 cars took the green with Greensboro NC driver Chris Lamb taking control at the drop of the green. Lamb was the dominant driver as his Radical Race Gear backed open wheeler led all 30 laps to take the win. Clouse Cooper was runner up, with Ricky Bowers third, Gage Walker fourth and Justin Whittal fifth.
The NASCAR WHELEN ALL AMERICAN RACING SERIES were also in action on the one third mile oval. The late model feature was as a great event with drivers changing positions every lap.
Mike Ward jumped out front at the drop of the green flag and led the first six laps. Don Mahaffey took over the lead on lap seven and that’s when the action really heated up. Mahaffey and Justin Alsip had fans up and cheering as they battled side by side and nose to tail the rest of the event. Alsip finally used a high side pass to take the lead. Alsip, from Germantown was able to hold Mahaffey to win his second straight feature. Alsip is sponsored by Charlie’s A-1 Auto Service and White Allen Chevrolet. Mahaffey was second. Ward was third, followed by Bobby Justus and Bill Burba. The father/son team of Don and Tyler Mahaffey won the heat races.
In street stock action Josh Longstreth broke his string of bad luck, as the Trotwood resident led all 25 laps in his Commercial Roofing Services Camaro to post his first win of the season. Jamie Sites, David Stump, Bob Stansell and Jacob Heckman finished second thru fifth. Jim Lewis Jr. captured the heat win.
The modified feature saw Arlis Williams led the first four laps, before giving way to Dave Barnhart. Barnhart was out front the next two circuits before Enon’s Mike Stacy took over. Stacy led the rest of the way to post his first win of 2013. Last weeks winner Jack Jones was second, with Barnhart third, Ryan Fleming fourth and John Donovan fifth. Stacy also carried the checker for the heat race.
Mike Siders of London OH led all 20 laps to post his first career win. Siders was driving a Honda sponsored by Worley Motor Sports. Paul Holley was second, with Nick Barrett, Dwayne Snyder and Bryan Lynch rounding out the top five. Lynch and Barrett were heat race winners.
This Friday (6/21) the track will host a 40 lap street stock challenge, plus late models, modifieds and compacts.
