Night of Speed at KilKare
Xenia OH: KilKare Speedway’s NASCAR Whelen All American Racing Series of stock cars put on a great night of racing for the fans on “Grandparents Night”.
Fans were treated to double features in all classes as a result of a May 17th rain out.
The street stocks took to the oval first for their make up 25 lapper. Chris Harshbarger looked strong as he led the first 3 laps. But the hopes of a win disappeared when Tipp City’s Jamie Sites powered his Thumpers Classic Auto Glass Camaro to the front. Sites went on to post his third win of the season.
Josh Longsteth, Jim Lewis Jr, David Stump and Harshbarger rounded out the top five. The regular 25 lapper once again saw Harshbarger jump out front at the drop of the green. Sites, who had been blackflagged for a possible leak restarted on the tail after an inspection stop, soon made his way back to the front when racing resumed. Sites was soon smiling for victory lane photos as his S&S Motorsports ride won its second feature of the night. Stump, Lewis Jr. Stansell and Jacob Heckman finished 2nd thru fifth. Heat winners were Stump and Bob Stansell.
The late models were up next for their make up event with defending track champion Don Mahaffey taking the helm at the drop of the green. Mahaffey was never really challenged as he led all 30 laps in his Quick Parts/Hanger 18 Chevy. David Carter was second, with Justin Alsip third, Terry Scherz fourth and Bobby Justus fifth. The regular feature was a heartbreaker for Bobby Justus. Justus led
the 28 laps as a war was going on behind him over positions. Justin Alsip of Germantown finally pulled off an outside pass with two laps to go, and held on for his second win of the season in his White Allen Chevy. Justus, Mahaffey, Terry Scherz and Nathan Herron rounded out the top five. Mike Ward and Matthew Parson were heat winners.
The modified make up and regular feature turned out to be all Jack Jones, as the Beavercreek driver in his Horsepower Sales sponsored ride dominated both races. The make up main saw David Barnhart, Bill Burba, Brad Williams and Ryan Fleming round out the top five. The regular feature was once again a Jones show.
No one had anything for Jones, as Fleming. Williams. Barnhart and Kyle Purvis chased Jones under the checker. The race was red flagged on lap 23 when Bob Sibila Jr. tangled with another car putting him drivers side into the wall. Sibila was treated by local EMT’s and returned to his pit area. Terrry Humphrey and Logan McPherson were heat winners.
The compacts rounded out the night, with Bryan Lynch winning the make up main in his Nick’s Place Integra. Paul Holley. Amber Holley, Nick Barrett and Phillip Graham rounded out the top five. The regular feature saw Barrett take the lead on lap eight and lead the final twelve counters in his Barrett Tool Beretta.
The USAC Ford Midget Series will in action this Friday (6/14) along with the late models, street stocks, modifieds and compacts.
