Dunlevy Jr. Picks Up Dean Memorial Win
Xenia OH (8/3). It was the “Robbie Dean Memorial” at Kilkare Speedway Friday night (8/3) . All classes picked up bonus dollars and trophies for the winners. It was the fifth annual race held to honor the many time track champion. It was a great night for fans, as the event saw the largest field of cars in all classes for the season.
The late model 94 lap late model main was the top event for the night. Dick Dunlevy Jr took over the lead early in the event in his Ohio Pain Clinic/Eddie and Joann Simpson owned stocker. Dunlevy dominated the event until a late race yellow closed up the field. Justin Alsip was able to put pressure on Dunlevy but was never able to muster a pass. The win brought Dunlevy's win total to thirteen for the season. Alsip was second, followed by Chad Pendelton, Johnny Jenkins and Shawn Stansell. Stansell and Josh Cahill notched heat wins. Pendelton was the dash winner. Alsip set fast time during time trials.
The modified main saw Ryan Fleming of Xenia smiling in victory lane after the 30 lap main in his Muffler Brothers open wheeler. The win was the 11th of the season for Fleming. The race started off with fast qualifier Tyler Nuckles putting on one of the most impressive runs in memory. Nuckles started at the rear of the field and moved up a high line nobody had ever ran. Three laps later he was out front and gone. It was all for naught however as the engine let go as he had a half lap lead. Soon it was Fleming out front enroute to his win. Mike Carroll was second, Daryl McKay third, Bill Burba fourth and Brad Williams fifth. Derek Barnette took the dash checker, with Rodney Kruesch taking the eight lap heat win.
The 25 lap street stock saw New Carlisle's Jamie Sites put his S&S Motorsports in the winners circle for the third time this season. Sites lead all 25 laps to claim his share of the Dean bonus and and a very nice trophy. Phil Gussler Jr.,John Haney, Ryan Dunlevy and Joe Hensel rounded out the top five. Hensel posted the dash win, heats going to Bruce Snider and Sites. Dunlevy paced the field during time trails as he set fast time.
The 20 lap compact main was won by Xenia's Bryan Lynch in his Nick's Place Honda. It was a clean sweep for Lynch as he also won the dash and set fast time. Paul Holley, Steve Barnhart, Joe Hoelscher and Nick Barrett rounded out the top five. The heat win went to Holley.
The staff and management of Kilkare Speedway would to extend a special thanks to Donnie and Kelly Renner for their efforts on behalf of the Robbie Dean Memorial night festivities. The Kelly's donated all the trophies and gained extra bonus money from different sponsors.
