Five Winners at KilKare Speedway

Xenia OH: (7/27). KilKare Speedway played host to five different divisions of stock cars Friday night. The action was interrupted during time trials by a brief shower, but the rest of the nights racing was unaffected.
The street stocks were the first to take to the oval. Jay Lakins of New Carlisle led the pack into turn one at the drop of the green flag. Lakins, behind the wheel of his Wholesale Auto Parts Camaro held off a late race from fast qualifier Joe Hensel to post his fourth win of the season in the green to checker event. Tyler Mahaffey, Jamie Sites and Travis Digges rounded out the top five. Sites was the dash winner.
The late models were up next, with Bob Sibila leading lap number one. Sibila was behind the wheel of the Russ Bobb owned #53 as his #42 suffered heavy damage in a crash last week. Justin Alsip forged ahead on lap three. The former track champion led until lap seven when fast qualifier Dick Dunlevy sped by. Dunlevy had managed to build a small lead before a yellow on lap 19 closed up the field. Alsip regained the lead on the restart, only to lose it back the next lap. Dunlevy was able to lead the final counters in his Turbo Blue/Duncan Oil backed ride to post his 12th win of the season. Alsip was second, followed by followed by Sibila, Shawn Stansell and Terry Scherz. Dunlevy set fast time, with Alsip taking the dash victory.
The modifieds put on a great show in their 30 lap feature. Grant Gamble led the first counter, before giving way to Derek Barnette. Barnette put his A to Z Painting backed racer out front with Brad Williams in tow. Williams made a charge on lap 27, as the pair made contact bringing out the yellow. Officials sent Williams to the rear of the field, with Barnette back in the lead. The final three laps turned out to a nail biter for Barnette, as muli feature winner and current point leader Ryan Fleming put the hammer down and caught Barnette on the white flag lap. Fleming ran out of laps however and settled for a second place finish by half a car length. The win was the first for Barnette since 2010 in his family owned racer. Bill Burba, Daryl McKay and Williams rounded out the top five.
Barnette carried the checker for the dash, with Fleming setting fast time.
The compacts were out next with Paul Holley in charge in his Beretta . Holley led until the halfway point when Riverside's Bo Hoelscher took command. Hoelscher survived a couple of yellows due to minor spins to claim his 11th win of the season in his Glassman Honda. Fast qualifier and dash winner Bryan Lynch was second, with Holley third, Joe Hoelscher fourth and Ryan Tamburro fifth.
The International Outlaw Figure Eight cars rounded out the nights action. When the dust settled it was Noblesville IN driver Jeff Swinford enjoying his first series win, as he claimed top spot in the 50 lap feature. Shawn Cullen. Ronnie Rose, Charlie Hargroves and Larry Swinford rounded out the top five.
This Friday night (8/3) the track will host its annual Robbie Dean Memorial.
The event is held annually for the late models to honor the memory of the many time track champion. A 94 lap late model feature will highlight the nights action. The Street Stocks, Modifieds, and Compacts will also be in action. Racing will start at 8.
