HOMETOWN HERO TAKES KILKARE ARCA TRUCK WIN
Xenia OH (7/6). The ARCA Truck Series mades its first of two stops at the Xenia oval Friday (7/6) . The 100 lap grind started out with temperatures at or near the 100 degree mark. Chad Poorman took over the lead at the drop of the green flag and led the first for the first counters before giving way to Chris Bailey. Bailey was setting a torrid pace before a front chute crash brought out a red flag on lap 12. Danny Jackson, the current point leader was caught up with Poorman and the lapped truck of Steve Perkins. Local driver Levi Mansfield of Oakwood then took over the helm. Mansfield had already proven he was the man to beat by setting quick time, but no one expected the youngster to dominate the event. Mansfield set a track record and lapped the field to post his first ARCA TRUCK SERIES win. Chris Bailey, Steve Christman ,Cody Quarrick and Brandon Huff rounded out the top five
The NASCAR WHELEN RACING SERIES weekly stars were also part of the racing card.
The street stocks saw David Stump set quick time during time trials in his Camaro. The 20 lap main was dominated by Josh Longstreth in his Scene 75 backed stocker. Longstreth led all 25 laps to notch his first ever win. Phil Gussler Jr. was second, with Stump third, Tyler Mahaffey fourth and Jamie Sites fifth.
In the late model division West Virginia driver Travis Braden made his 2012 debut a good one, as he set quick time and won the 30 lap feature in a strong effort. Dick Dunlevy Jr. saw his win streak come to an end, as he could only watch Braden take the checker in his Senneker Performance chevy. Shawn Stansell, Bob Sibila and Cal Busch finished out the top five.
In modified racing, Daryl McKay set fast time in his blue modified. When the race started it was Xenia's Ryan Fleming the man on a mission, as he jumped out front at the drop of the green and never looked back as he put his Cupps;s Distributing open wheeler in victory lane for the seventh time this season. Mike Carroll, Bill Burba,McKay and Jamie Sites rounded out the top five.
The compact racing got off to a rough start, as a crash on lap three took out current point leader Bo Hoelscher. When racing resumed it was PaPa Joe Hoelscher out front the final 17 lap to win his first feature in two seasons. Nick Barrett continued his strong season with a second place finish, with Ryan Barrett third, Paul Holley fourth and Steve Barnhart fifth .
This Friday (7/13) KilKare will feature a full program of late model. Modified, street stock and compacts under the NASCR WHELEN RACING SERIES banner. Racing is set to kick off at 8
