Braden Takes Fourth Win at Kil-Kare

Xenia, OH. - It was a fast paced night of racing Friday night at Kil-Kare Speedway with all feature winners picking up repeat wins. In the late models it Wheeling, West Virginia's Travis Braden claiming win number four while in the modifeds it was Miamisburg's Jason Mahaffey collecting win number four also. South Charleston's sport stocks driver Mike South Jr. was not to be outdone by Braden and Mahaffey as he joined the four winner club but for Riverside's Bo Hoelscher it was his fifth compact feature.
One time NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late model feature winner Brandon Oakley and Bob Sibila brought the field to the green with Oakley taking the front spot but here came veteran driver Dick Dunlevy to take the lead on lap five while fast timer Travis Braden was on the move on the outsie as he diced with Don Mahaffey Jr. and Sibila. Braden dropped Oakley to third on lap eleven  and Sibila took over third from Oakley. Oakley's teammate Don Mahaffey Jr. took fourth with Oakley now fifth.  Meanwhile Dunlevy and Braden were going after it for the lead as they ran side by side but Braden surged ahead only to see Dunlevy spin on turn four on lap nineteen. Braden set sail after the restart with Don Mahaffey riding second and Sibila third. As the laps wound down Dunlevy was moving up but  it was Braden and his Weiler Welding machine taking their fourth win with Don Mahaffey Jr. second and Bob Sibila third. It was a close finish for fourth as Dick Dunlevy came from the rear after his spin to just nip Brandon Oakley at the line with Oakley fifth.  Sam Heckman and Dick Dunlevy started side by side in the late model dash with Dunlevy holding a slight edge as fast timer Travis Braden and Don Mahaffey Jr. ran side by side. Dunlevy barely beat Heckman for the win with Heckman second, Braden third and Mahaffey fourth.  Veteran Russ Bobb jumped out front in the heat with Terry Scherz having Bob Sibila on his bumper but the caution came out when Don Mahaffey Sr. spun on turn four. When the green waved again Bobb continued to lead but Sibila had another idea as he sailed around Bobb to claim his second heat w[n of the year. Bobb was second with Scherz third and fourth to Brandon Oakley

Three time modified feature winner Jason Mahaffey sat on the pole of their feature with one time winner Ryan Fleming beside him but starter Don Beddies did not like the start which saw the cars rack up again. When action finally got underway Mahaffey took command with Mike Carroll jumping into second followed by Derek Weatherhead and fast timer Greg Stapleton. Mahaffey had a good lead while Stapleton moved on the outside , passing Weatherhead as the yellow flew when Caleb Reschar spun.  With eight laps completed Mahaffey still had the lead but Carroll and Stapleton were hungry behind him. Kyle Jones joined the front runners as he was into fifth as Stapleton up front rode the outside around Carrroll and then went after leader Mahaffey. Stapleton tried lap after lap as he sought his third win of the season with Mahaffey doing his best to hold him off. Finally when the checker waved it was Mahafey and his Commercial Roofing special taking home their fourth win with Greg Stapleton a very close second and Mike Carroll third with Derek Weatherhead fourth and Kyle Jones fifth.  Mike Carroll jumped out front at the drop of the green in the in the modified dash as he led Derek Weatherhead, Kyle Jones, and fast timer Greg Stapleton to the checker. Grant Gamble took the early lead in the heat as Caleb Reschar came charging up on the outside to challenge Gamble to take the lead on lap three. Ryan Fleming was on the move as he chased Gamble for second but as the checker waved it was Reschar picking up his first heat win of the year in the Paul Storer machine. Gamble was second with Fleming third and Rob Dutra fourth.

Bill Ramey and last weeks dash winner Josh Longstreth started in the front row of the sport stock dash with Ramey taking the lead with Mike Spoth Jr. running second being chased by fast timer Shawn Stansell coming on strong. Ramey, in his first stop at Kil-Kare this year took the win over South, Stansell, and Longstreth.  Jeff Marsh and Tyler Mahaffey battled for the lead in the heat with Ricky Young riding third. All was going well until David Boyle spun on turn four on lap six slowing the action. Marsh and his Superior Auto Sales special ended up the winner followed by Tyler Mahaffey, Duane Bohrer and Courtney Hannah.  Bryan Lynch and Bo Hoelscher led the four fast compact qualifiers to the green with Hoelscher taking the lead with fourth fast timer Gary Williams moving into second. When the checker waved it was Hoelscher with Matt Stone stealing second from Williams who was third and Lynch fourth.
Leading the sport stock drivers to the green for their feature was Duane Bohrer and Courtney Hannah with Bohrer taking command with dash winner Bill Ramey moving into second as Hannah dropped by to third. Unfortunately the caution came out on lap two when David Boyle spun on turn four and then on the restart several cars tangled on turn one with several cars charging to the pits to have their cars checked. For Ramey he was charged with the yellow and sent to the tail which put Bohrer in the lead, Mike South Jr.second, Hannah third, Josh Longstreth in fourth and Travis Digges fifth for the restart.

South made as inside pass to take the lead with Hannah riding second and Longstreth third with Digges on his bumper. Hannah stayed glued to South's bumper as they lapped traffic as again Boyle brought the yellow out when he spun on turn four. South continued to lead while Travis Digges took third from Longstreth when Longstreth slowed and dropped out. Back in the pack Tyler Mahaffey and Ricky Young battled for fourth with Mahaffey taking over fourth.
Hannah tried every way possible to catch South but South kept shaking her off as Digges was right behind Hannah. At the checker it was Mike South Jr. taking his fourth win of the year. Rookie sport stock driver Courtney Hannah was second with one time winner Travis Digges third. Fourth was Tyler Mahaffey and fifth was Bill Ramey.

The compact feature had Paul Holley and Gary Williams in the front row with Williams taking the outside line to lead the first lap with Bo Hoelscher in second. Hoelscher pulled alongsde Williams, taking the lead on lap four with fast timer Matt Stone chasing him. Williams held down third with Bryan Lynch fourth and Dustin Smith fifth. At the halfway it was still Hoelscher being chased by Stone for the lead but Stone was closing the gap when the white flag waved but it was Bo Hoelscher claiming his fifth win of the season with Stone second and Gary Williams third. Fourth went to Bryan Lynch with Dustin Smith fifth.
It was Steve Barnhart and Ron Sagers in the front row of the compact heat only to see the caution come out for a restart. Barnhart took the lead but it didn't last long as Ron Sagers took over followed by Davey Shaw but here came Dustin Smith to give Shaw a run for second. Sagers kept in front to claim his second heat win with Shaw a very close second folowed by Dustin Smith and Steve Barnhart.
