Sibila Scores First Win at Kil-Kare

Xenia, OH - A new name appeared in the winners circle at Kil-Kare
Speedway as Bob Sibila scored his first NASCAR Whelen All-American
Series late model feature defeating ten time winner Don Mahaffey.
Heading the pack of Whelen All-American Series late models to the
green flag for their thirty lap feature was Bob Sibila and Sam Heckman
to face starter Mike Stapleton's green flag. Sibila charged into the
lead with David Carter and new track record holder Don Mahaffey third.
Mahaffey tried every was to pass Carter and finally did on lap seven.
They quickly moved up on slower traffic and Mahaffey closed in on leader
Sibila with Carter riding third, Sloan Henderson fourth and Mike Stacy
fifth. Sibila and Mahaffey continued to set the pace with Mahaffey
desperately trying to figure a way around Sibila but Sibilia kept
shaking off his attemps. Mahaffey got caught up intraffic giving Sibila
achane to continue to pull away.
For fifth fast qualifier Sibila the checker waved on him as he claimed
his first ever Kil-Kare win with Mahaffey a distant second. David Carter
claimed the third spot with fourth to Sloan Henderson and fifth to Sam
Heckman.
Last weeks modified feature winner Brandon Oakley and Ryan Fleming,
both sixteen year old rookies and winners of one feature this year
shared the front row of the thirty lap feature. Oakley took the lead
with Fleming second and Brad Williams third and Derek Weatherhead fourth
with fast timer Travis Braden riding fifth. The two rookies continued to
set the pace while behind them Braden was trying to pass Weatherhead as
they weeded their way through slower cars. Meanwhile Fleming stayed
glued to Oakley's bumper and Weatherhead was reeling in the leaders as
the laps wound down. With five laps to go Weatherhead was within
striking distance of the leaders with Braden a distant fourth and Jeffy
Stapleton riding fifth. Oakley, in his dads Oakley Blacktop machine made
it two in a row as he claimed the event with Fleming second and not far
behind was Weatherhead in third followed by Travis Braden and Jerry
Stapleton.
Bruce Snider and John Haney were the pacesetters in the twenty five
lap sport stock feature and when the green waved it was Snider in the
lead with last weeks winner Ron Lewis moving up on the outside only to
have the caution come out when several cars spun on turn two. Again
Snider shot into the lead and again Lewis went to the outside to
challenge with James Harding and Shawn Stansell right behind. Rodney
Kreusch went to the outside as they ran three wide into turn one but
unfortunately Kreusch who was on the outside spun bringing out another
caution with John Haney departing to the pits.
Lewis put an outside pass on Snider on the restart with Harding,
Stansell Snider and Jay Lakins in the front five. Lewis, in search of
his fourth feature win had Harding all over his rear bumper with
Stansell doing the same on Harding making it a tight three car battle
for the front spots. Stansell tried to find enough horsepower to pull
alongside of Harding but each time he slid back to third and again
Stansell pulled along side of Harding. As the trio approached slower
David Boyle, Stansell made contact with Boylewith damage to Stansell's
mount which ended his night as well as Boyle's.
Lewis and Harding continued their battle when the green reappeared
with Lewis managing to shake off Harding's bid to claim his fourth win
in his Replacement Auto Parts special. Harding was a very close second
with Bruce Snider third followed by Jay Lakins Jr., and Rodney Kreusch.
Hitting the track for their compact feature it was Davey Shaw and
Amber Sites bringing the field to the green for their twenty lap
feature. Shaw powered to the lead with rookie Tyler Mahaffey shooting
up on the inside to take the lead on lap two as Sited slid back sixth.
Fast timer Bryan Lynch wasted little time in working his was to
challenge Mahaffey making his pass good on lap six. Lynch continued to
set the pace, building up a good lead as Joe Hoelscher was starting to
close in on second place running Mahaffey. Lynch seemed to put it on
cruise control as he sailed around the track in the lead bu Mahaffey
had Joe Hoelscher on his rear but here came Bob Hoelscher to steal third
from his dad. For Lynch it was his third win of the year and rounding
out the top five was Tyler Mahaffey, Bo Hoelscher, Joe Hoelscher, and
Paul Holley.
Kil-Kare Speedway will close out the 2010 season Friday night,
September 10, with another program of Whelen All-American Series late
models, modifieds, sport stocks, and compacts with gates opening at 6
p.m. and racing at 8:30 p.m.
