Sullivan, Baker, Hunter, Hastings and Turley take season opener wins!

 

    Kil-Kare Dragway opened its gates at 10 a.m. Saturday for the 2010 season opener. Over 140 cars represented the first round competitors, weather conditions would change throughout the day but it would turn into a beautiful day for drag racing.  Kil-Kare would like to thank 2010 season sponsors Sonic Drive-in Restaurants and Buckminn’s D&D Harley-Davidson for their support of local racing.

In the Sonic Drive-In Super Pro division quarterfinals we would see Dave Caplinger from Xenia dial a 6.47 to be 4.95 of Randy Davis from South Vienna.  At the tree Dave would have a .504 light however Randy would hold to the finish line with a 4.955 to take the win light.  Next up Robert Lykins of New Carlisle would dial a 5.45 to the 6.45 of Josh Van Horn from Orient.  Reaction time difference was .0049 in favor of Lykins who would run a 5.475 for the win light.  In the final pair of the round we would see Ken Sullivan of West Carrollton dial a 4.99 to the 5.08 of Tim Louderback.  Louderback would go red moving Sullivan to the semi finals.

 

In the semi final round we would see Ken Sullivan dial a 4.99 to the 5.45 of Robert Lykins.  Sullivan would get a .506 reaction time and Lykins would break out, moving Sullivan to the finals.  Randy Davis had the bye run. 

 

In the final Sullivan would dial a 4.99 to 4.92 of Davis.  Sullivan once again would get the better reaction, this time a .518, along with a 4.991 pass for the first Sonic Drive-in Super Pro win of the season.

 

Pro division quarterfinals we would see Bryan Fox of Springfield dial a 5.72 to the 6.08 of Steve Collier from Xenia.  At the tree, Collier would be better but would break out by .0052, moving Fox to the Semis.  Next up would be Bo McDaniel from Franklin with a dial of 6.59 against a 6.07 from Rob Anthony of Cincinnati Anthony would go red moving McDaniel into the Semis. The next pair on the line would be Dwight Fox from Springfield dialing a 5.84 to the 7.11 of Jim Beard from Springfield. Reaction times would see Beard better with a .539, along with a 7.109 for the double breakout win.  Dave Baker would have the Bye.

 

Semi final action would see Jim Beard dial a 7.11 to 6.44 of Dave Baker. Beard would foul out moving Baker into the finals.  Up next would be Brian Fox with a 5.73 dial to the 6.59 of Bo McDaniel.  McDaniel would go red moving Fox to the finals to face Baker.

 

In the finals we would see Brian Fox dial a 5.75 to 6.42 of Baker.  At the tree Baker would get a .528 reaction and would take the win with a 6.525 pass.

 

Buckminn’s D&D Harley-Davidson Pro Bike division quarterfinals started with the David Besmara of Powell dial a 6.09 to the 6.51 of Sam Cotterman of Tremont city.  Cotterman would get a .537 reaction but it would be Besmara on the double breakout win, with a 6.083.  Next up would be Austin Stidham of Urbana dialing a 6.04 to the 6.14 of Jeremy England from Westchester.  Stidham would go red moving England to the next round.  Next up would be Dustin Burchett of Groveport dialing a 5.49 to the 6.78 of Steve Withem from Fairborn.  Withem would cut a .514 light and would take the win on a 6.788 ride.  The final pair of the round would be Larry Hunter of Xenia dialing a 5.73 to the 5.43 of Daniel Burchett of Columbus.  Hunter would cut a .508 light and would make the ride on a 5.738 to move to the Semis.

 

In the semis Jeremy England would dial a 6.15 to the 6.09 of David Besmara. England would be better at the tree with a .506 and would take the win light with a 6.230 to his first finals of 2010.  The last pair for the round would consist of Larry Hunter dialing a 5.73 to the 6.77 of Steve Withem. Hunter would be better once again at the tree with a .511 light and would take the win with a 5.759 ride to see England in the finals.

 

In the final rounds England would dial a 6.15 to the 5.75 of Hunter.  Hunter once again would be in with the better reaction time this time a .503, he would hold the advantage with a 5.823 pass for the win.

 

Sportsman division quarterfinals would see Howard Ledford of Kettering dial a 12.29 to the 16.55 of Steve Collier from Dayton.  Collier would receive the better light with a .526 and would take the breakout victory with a 16.614 pass. Next was Dennis Young of Kettering dialing a 12.38 to the 16.96 of Terry Knight from Fairborn.  Reaction time would go to Knight with a .609 but it would be Dennis Young with the double breakout victory running a 12.222.  Nick Hastings of Shelby had the bye run.

 

In the semi finals Dennis Young would dial a 12.23 to the 12.46 of Nick Hastings.  Young would be better at the tree with a .519 but it would be Hastings on the breakout victory with a 12.462 pass.  Steve Collier of Dayton would have the bye into the finals.

 

In the finals Hastings would dial a 12.44 to the 16.54 of Collier.  Collier would come out swinging at the tree with a .503 light but would break out, making Nick Hastings the Sportsman winner on a 12.537 pass.

 

Jr. Dragster quarterfinal action would see Austin Kardules of Pataskala dial an 8.08 to the 12.90 Byron Pitts from Urbana.  Pitts would take the better light with a .561 and would get the win light with a 12.933 pass.  Next up would be Shawn Pitts of London dialing an 8.02 to the 9.02 of Taylor Cook from Westchester.  Cook would go red moving Pitts to the semi finals.  The last pair for the round would be Jordan Purk of Piqua dialing a 13.17 to the 8.97 of Maggie Turley from Baltimore.  Purk would cut a .5001 light however it would be Turley with a 9.137 pass for the win.

 

Jr. dragster Semis would see Shawn Pitts dialing a 7.99 against Byron Pitts dialing a 12.90.  Sean would receive the better light with a .514 and would take the breakout win with an 8.002 pass.  Maggie Turley would have the bye into the finals. 

 

In the finals we would see Shawn Pitts dial a 7.96 to the 8.97 of Maggie Turley.  Pitts would go red making Maggie Turley the winner in the Jr. Dragster division.
